Question about 2004 Mazda 3

1 Answer

2004 Mazda 3 won't start

We have two of the hatch backs with manual transmission. In both of them, occasionally you turn the key to start it and nothing happens. No sound at all. Take the key out and insert again and it starts fine and then runs like there is no problem. We thought it might be battery, which tested low once but does not behave like its low. Anyone know why this is?

I haven't checked this but actually think that it fits perfectly with the problem and solution we have found. The only thing is that my daughter, who owns one of these, says that the battery has 'tested low' twice after this has happened. I don't have any more details. They have replaced the battery twice because of this. Could the problem with the ignition and the problem starting be linked? Is the battery a problem with this model?

when a car does not start in park or stay in park that is your neutral safety switch on the transmission. the latch can be the lock actuator.

If when you turn the key you get a click click sound, your battery could need replacing. Mine was doing this occasionally & a mechanic told me to change the battery. I had my doubts since a battery tester showed that the battery was fine. A second mechanic told me the same thing. I changed the battery & now the car starts without any problem.

Hi there, I am looking for a repair manual for a 2004 Mazda 3. I need to replace my clutch and would like to try do it myself with the help of a manual. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. you have to remove the transmission assembly. loosen the bolts that hold the transmission. it is located between the engine and transmission. from there you will see the flywheel and the clutch assembly.

My '01 Santa Fe awd v-6 has a new transmission, now sometimes won

Bases on the limited info provided, most likely the ignition switch. If you list the symptoms you experience when it doesn't start it would be easier to diagnose your problem for example: does it crank? does the key turn and do nothing? etc. Hope this answers your question.
