Question about 1997 Ford Explorer AWD

1 Answer

Checked all connections and they are fine, the clicking sound is one single click each time I turn the key, sounds like it is coming from the area of the fuse box thats under the hood. The engine still will not start.

I have a 2005 Nissan Murano and the engine will not turn over. The engine has a clicking sound and all of the lights/windows/gauges work fine.

if its a single click every time you turn the key to the start position than the starter is probably bad. If its multiple clicks when you hold the key in the start position its probably a weak battery.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe (91,000 miles) that wouldn't start when I went out to go to run my next errand... just clicking sound when I turned the key. Just put a new serpentine belt on and everything...

Sounds like your battery might be low, A repeated clicking will indicate low battery, a single click would suggest really low battery or possibly starter motor bad.

93 Buick Regal sometimes starts, sometimes doesn't

Sounds like a classic starter solenoid problem. first check that the click is coming from the starter and not a sub relay. if the click originates at the starter, either change the starter solenoid or the entire starter. I recommend a starter simply because the brushes in the starter are likely worn and nearing the end of their service life, so it's worthwhile to change both as a unit!

Sounds like a bad ground.Check for broken connections or corroded terminals especially around the battery as acid tends to seep from them and corrode the connections.

if you notice this van should have a statrer solenoid on the fender as well as on the starter, clean the body of the solenoid on the fender area and make sure that the ground cable is secure and tight do not wiggle which is just making it loose if it is so go under the vehicle and make sure that the cable is tight
