No brake lights or turn signals on 1997 chevy lumina

Check the fuses..If ok ,,then most likely the signal switch..Your brake light circuit runs through the signal switch as well..Get someone to watch your brake lights to see if they come on..Now push the brake down and move your signal switch around and see if the brake light comes on intermittently..If so its definetly your switch

Brake lights stay on permanently on 97 ford escort.

the cause is the brake light switch on the backside on top of the brake pedal. it is either out off adjustment or it needs replaced. this switch activates the brake lights when pushing on brake pedal. if it gets out of adjustment or sticks the brake lights will stay on because it does not cut voltage to brake lights. have a good day !!

Found out my brake lights are not working when the police pulled me over. Have a 2001 Celica. Checked the bulbs and fuse. I do not have an owners manual. What should I check next?

You can easily check your brakelight switch with a 12 volt test light. Probe the switch which is located on the brake pedal lever, make sure you have power coming in, and then depress the pedal by hand and make sure that there is power going out the other side of the switch. The brakelight switch is the only one with just two wires on the pedal. Thank you, Dana

2000 Dodge Stratus brake lights don't work

the stratus' are well known for the brakelight switch on the brake pedal going out frequently!!
so go to nearest parts house and buy a brakelight switch, that will most likely fix your problem!!

No brake lights when depressing the brake pedal

This can be caused by a number of things. You just have to eliminate each one.
Light Globe Replace one with a new one if it works replace both.
Fuse Check fuse in fuse panel under bonnet.
Brake pedal switch Unclip wire connector, check with circuit volt light indicator, Ohm meter or other continuity tester.
Wiring from pedal switch to light globe As above (maybe cut squashed or broken wiring)
Hope this helps
