Loosen belts on 01 mazda protoge

If the alternator is on the top in the open, just loosen the alternator bolts a little bit. Then push the alternator to loosen the belt to remove it. Do the opposite to put the new belt on.

If the alternator is buried under a lot of other things, it's a lot tougher job.

IF IT IS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE OTHER BELTS, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS UNBOLT THE TOP OF THE ALTERNATOR, AND PUSH IT IN TO LOOSEN THE BELT FOR REMOVAL! IF IT IS IN BACK OF THE BELTS (ESPECIALLY A SERPENTINE BELT) YOU'LL HAVE TO REMOVE THE SERPENTINE BELT FIRST! THERE WILL BE A TENSION PULLEY HOLDING THE BELT TIGHT! YOU'LL NEED TO USE A WRENCH TO PULL THE TENSION PULLEY TOWARD YOU TO LOOSEN BELT! WATCH HOW YOU REMOVE IT, BCUS YOU'LL NEED TO PUT IT BACK ON THE SAME WAY! THEN REMOVE, AND REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR BELT AS BEFORE, THEN REPLACE THE SERPENTINE BELT!

You can loosen the idler wheel which has a loose play to allow the belt to comeover , be replaced and pulled up to tighten and bolt.

LOOSEN ALTERNATOR BOTTOM PIVOT BOLT THEN LOOSEN ALTERNATOR TOP BAR BOLT.THAT WILL ALLOW ALTERNATOR TO MOVE INWARD TO SLIDE BELT BACK ON.

See if u kno some thing about mechanics u will find the adjustment bolts of the alternator on top u will have to loosen them & push the alternator witha rod inorder to loosen the belt & remove it & fix a new one & then again pull the alternator, will pulling it not too tight & not too loose then tighten the bolts u had loosen them

Loosen alternator right back You will have to loosen pivot bolt underneath alternator Replace belt and tighten alternator until you can move belt about 5-6mm by pushing on it with two fingers Quite fiddly job Not much room

I don`t know that there is a bolt to loosen the belt tension.There should be a automatic tensioner that you pull back and hold to remove the belt.

1. Depressurize and drain the cooling system. 2. Loosen the alterantor adjustment and remove the belt.
3. Remove the water pump pulley.
4. Remove all the timing belt covers.
5. Loosen the timing (camshaft) belt tensioner and slip the timing belt off the camshaft toothed pulley (ensure you do not move the positon of the camshaft)
6. Unbolt the lower radiator hose fitting and heater retrun pipe.
7. Unbolt the waterpump from the block (5 bolts).
8. Remove all traces of the old gasket before mounting the new pump (Permatex spray on gasket remover works well).
9. Install the new pump and reassemble in reverse order to above.

LOOSEN BOTTOM NUT ON POWER STEERING PUMP THEN REMOVE BELT

there is one large bolt 13mm i think near the top and the tensioner on the side. just loosen that baby and push the alternator and take off the blet
