Do i need to add coolant to my reservoir if it is empty
Yes. Fill to the full line, drive it long enough for the engine to get to normal operating temperature and chedk it again. If the level has gone down refill to the full line and drive it again. I would do this several times until the resivior is staying full

Yes. Before you do, remove cap on rad when engine is cool & top it up too, if needed. Keep an eye on temperature gauge for a day or 2 & coolant bottle level, just in case there is another problem.
