Antifreeze Leak behind oil filter. Is there by chance a seal there that might be broken, or is it pretty much a cracked engine block

94 Pontiac Sunbird LE I am leaking antifreeze from a spot just behind my oil filter. Before I start disassembling my car, is there a chance there is a seal there that might be broken or is there nothing there but a cracked engine block? thanks

I have a splashing massive oil leak from the front driver side of the engine as if the oil was being pumped out as soon as the engine starts. I can't get to where I can see where the leak is coming fr

Hard to say unless you specify what vehicle this is. One way or another, you need to get to where the leak is in order to find the problem. In any case, start by checking the oil filter, and if it is not engine-mounted, check the hoses running between the filter housing and the engine.

Why us my 2007 pontiac torrent losing coolant?

When the oil was changed, did anyone reset the oil life monitor? It needs to be reset every time an oil change is done. That would explain why it is telling you to change the oil so soon.If you have a bad head gasket, antifreeze mixes with your oil. Check the oil on the dipstick. Does it look normal? Check under the cap where you pour the oil into the engine. Is the oil cap wet on the bottom? If yes, and the oil on the dipstick does not look normal, the head gasket is defective. It most likely would leak where the thermostat is located, since the gasket seal was taken out and replaced with a new one. It may not have been done correctly. There may be a puncture in a hose. There could be a crack in the coolant reservoir tank. The thermostat must be stuck in the open position or the thermostat was installed backwards for it to take that long to heat up. Refill the coolant reservoir tank with antifreeze and water before driving the car to avoid severe engine damage.

What would cause oil to thin out i checked fuel reulator vac line it doesnt leak so whats watering down my oil?

Antifreeze could water done your oil if you have a bad head gasket. The broken gasket is very difficult to change and I would recomend a qualified mechanic do this for you.

Another possiblity is a crack in your engine block causing antifreeze to get into the oil. This is not as likely to happen as a broken gasket but does happen on vary rare occasions.

There's oil leak on engine block where the oil filter is attached. It's the part between the oil filter and engine block

Ok you can disassemble the oil filter and loosen the bolts that connect the basis of the filter to block and this is a board of rubber or ring that is the one that sealed with the time, this is crystallizing that is why you leakage of oil by that there is a good seal. Thanks

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee losing antifreeze no leaks.

This is a hands on diag. If no leaks can be found then the coolant has to be going out the tailpipe. Chances are you have a cracked head or a cracked block. New gasget only temporarily sealed the crack. But then we are just guessing.

Could it be the rear main seal? Some times oil can be "blown" around in bell housing from fly wheel. If you can pry the inspection plate with a little regular screw driver and oil starts to come out its a good chance its the rear main
