Question about 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

01 JGCL Electric works but there is no turnover to start the car

The only thing that works in the jeep is the electricity. the radio works fine, the dash is lit up, headlights work normally, there's no dimming at all of the electricity. Once I try to actually start the jeep nothing happens at all...there's no sound of the car starting. Though there is a click sound that I hear as soon as I turn the key further. I'm pretty sure that it's the starter itself.

I've checked the battery, took it to Auto Zone to have it tested, the machine said to re-connect the clamps when they were already on. The terminals were cleaned further and the same thing happened. He showed me that the battery was low on power so he recharged it, then it tested fine. Apparently that's all it needed but when I placed the battery back on it still didn't start the car. The battery wires are tightly connected and still nothing happens. The crazy part about this is that when I've driven my jeep before the battery was in the center but when I turn the electric on it's one line above the red.

What do you think I should do/fix?
What the hell is the problem with this jeep?!

these engines run fairly hot and starter is relatively close to the exhaust..heat seems to take it's toll on these

I have an '01 Jeep Grand Cherokee that also keeps overheating when I stop but then runs fine when traveling. We do not have water mixed in the oil (we thought I had a cracked head gasket) and are told it...

Your electric fans are attached to the radiator, you would be wise to have the dealer check this out, they can access your computer and make the fans turn on with there computer, could be engine temp switch, fan relays, fan fuses, fan motors, that way your not just throwing parts at the problem

check all battery leads and earth straps
"" car body and engen bay straps""
also check battery terminals are tight check its full of battery water too if its been low for a time bump it!
and have a ""drop meeter test"" done on the battery if its a bad battery it should show that up first time it could have cracked plates inside the battery its self, test by turning on head lights then hit starter, if every thing go's dead!!!! put ""good jump start"" battery on to car and try it again,,, all should work just fine then,,,,it could just be a flat battery?????

2005 Jeep Grand Cherookee sometimes won't start

This could be something simple. Your starter draws far more power than anything except for the a/c clutch (not in play here) Since all accessories are functioning, it's likely that the battery terminals are oxidized. A high-draw item will actually break the connection temporarily. This condition will also change with humidity and temperature. Remove them and use a small wire brush or sandpaper to clean the battery posts and the inside of the connectors on the wires themselves. If you have done this and still have a problem, then you should start looking for other larger problems.
Good luck

INTERMITTANTLY MOST ACCESSESORIES DONT WORK (BLINKERS, BLOWER MOTOR, HORN, DASH LIGHTS)

I've seen this on alot of Jeeps, they have electrical problems and sadly you may have to take your jeep to an electric shop to pinpoint this problem. With electric jobs it can be a slew of things or just a shortage in a wire somewhere. There is no easy solution except pay an electric shop whatever they charge to troubleshoot and go from there.

Electrical Problem with Air, Radio, and Lighter

The ignition switch has many wires to it, 1 for starting, 1 for acc(key turned back), 1 for on or running.
Check all wires to the switch to make sure nothing came loose.
