    o.k there is no mass air flow sensor. i see that.it has a map sensor!! the problem that i have is the car runs like ****. it has lost its balls. exhaust stinks. tries to stall, but hasn't yet. when driving down the road it, i don't know how to explain it, maybe it sputters when you are driving it down the road. please help me i don't have the money to go to the dealer again. i was there a couple months ago and it put me in the hole $1,500. needless to say the family did without until we got caught back up.

    Most larger parts stores will do a code check for free. see if that points you in any particular direction. (at this point, don't pay attention to o2 sensor...it may be important but not yet)

    It doesn't have a mass air flow sensor. What kind of problems are you having?

  • Richard Scordino May 11, 2010

    don't think you have one.

98 jeep grand cherokee MAF
It located in the throttle-body. Look for electrical wires connected to it. It has an electrical resistor in the air flow stream that is kept cool based on the air flowing over it. The more air flow, the more electricity needed to maintain the resistors temperature. That's how it measures air flow.

    You should get an error code readout. Try Advance Auto. But you should also check;

    sparkplugs/cable/cap/rotor. air filter.

    Make sure all electrical connectors are tight to all sensors including the computer. This will cost nothing and would be done anyway.
    You can get a repair manual from the library, eBay or the internet.

It could be an idle air sensor or a mass air flow sensor or a MAP sensor. Excapes me what the map stands for but most likely idle air sensor

Where is the Intake Air Temperature Sensor or the (IAT)Sensor on a 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4.0 .??? I Have A Boss Performance chip that i would like to install....Thank's..

The air temperature is taken between the air filter and the throttle body. Look in the roof of your air cleaner box. (usually 2-pin plug) After the air cleaner, the tube that sends the air to the throttle body has the mass air flow sensor in it.(usually 4-pin plug)
