Jaguar 1995 3.2 No Spark at plugs

I have replaced the ECU with a known working one and also the air mass meter as the car was running roughly and would not accelerate, now I have no spark at the plugs and removed the crank sensor and tested continuity with a multimeter which was there but poor, I then took a strong magnet and tapped the electrode tip of the sensor and the continuity improved up to about 90% but still no spark and after removal again the continuity is down to around 10% again.
Does this indicate that the sensor is the problem?

On my 89 jaguar i noticed that when the battery voltage is low, the car nearly doesnt start.
ok.
furthermore, i had to find out, after experiencing similar problems, that it was not the airmass or cranksensor,
but a leaky roof that lead the water in the coupe,
down to the cpu unit.
when i took that one out, rusty water cam pouring out (!...)

I've been a British Leyland tech for 30 years.......replace the distributor module completely again. This has been a problem for YEARS!

Well you could try a a simple trick first. Get some carburetor cleaner and remove your air flow meter from the intake hose housing and give it a good spray. make sure it's clean and dry and not wet with any fluid. check your spark plugs and clean them or replace them as needed. don't forget to check the gap. when was the last time you replace your wires for the spark plugs? I would start with the first since it's the cheapest. then work your way up. Let me know GE

My Geo Tracker runs rough at idle replaced 02 sensor,plugs rotor,cap and wires I started it and it ran OK for a couple of seconds and went right back to running too rich is this because of the air val


95 , 16valve ? engines, says so on top of engine valve cover.
all that is last.
key on, CEL glows? if not fix that first
key on, does CEL go out, running, ? if not pull the ECU DTC codes
using a paper clip.

The MAF is the air valve. Mass Air Flow sensor.
type MAF in the search box, vast ways to test it , cheap and easy.
ever do the 60k tuneup,
you skipped , filters, and new timing belt.
if the belt slips , spark timing goes way off, did it?
and compression drops from 170 to 100; classic symptoms....
the order is.: 1,2,3
1: good engine, "compression"
2: good spark, is the timing still at spec. as the under hood sticker shows>
3: fueling.

Hello i have a 1995 buick park avenue that has a rough idle and stalls in the mornings after sitting over night the first two or three times it will stall but after that it idles rough til it gets warm,ok...


Try plug wires, that's about all you haven't replaced. Actually if you have an ohm meter you can test them - anything over 6k ohms per foot - REPLACE them. Also run a good fuel system cleaner through it and stay away from cheap gas.

I have a 2003 Jaguar S Type V6 and I wanna know how do you know if you need to replace the mass air flow sensor or whatever! I have changed the plugs and coils on it all ready cause it was starting rough...


Rather than take a stab in the dark replacing items - get the codes scanned and this should show what area the fault lies in. Normally if there is a fault with the MAF (mass air flow meter) it would normally show as a check engine light (MIL) - is this warning on? So many things can affect these engines from O2 sensors, coil misfires, bad cable connections etc etc. - so best move get the car scanned. Hope this helps (and saves money) good luck.

check gig flexi hose between air mass meter and engine, it has a tendency to split, also try disconnecting air mass meter plug, if it runs better without it mass meter may be faulty, try replacing it with a known good one

2000 Subaru Legacy will not start


If you find that the engine is dying at intersections and runs a rough and fluctuating idle at start up, and you also sometimes lose power even though the engine is running then it is probably your Air Flow Meter or sometimes reffered to as a Mass Airflow Sensor. Eventually, as the AFM deteriates further you will no longer be able to start the engine as the ECU can no longer get accurate flow readings to work out air fuel ratios and shuts it all down to stop damage occuring. 2 ways to fix, replace AFM or upgrade your ECU to one that is capable of running MAPs for air fuel ratio, rather than using a sensor. Hope this helps.

95 volvo 940 won't start. Is it lack of fuel or spark or air?


Have you try changing out the air mass meter? It could be dead. The air mass meter is a black Bosch unit that sits by the air filter. Disconnect it and if its doesn't get better. The it has to be replaced.
