A slim Jim is a fishing expedition. What you need to do is not worry about diagrams. Realize that the locking mechanism has just a very few parts that interconnect. The key hole where you insert your key, and the lock button that go up and down (or in some cases forward and back) are mechanically connected. It's that connection your fishing for and trying to move. You need to 'fish' between the lock and the button and try and 'hook' that linkage and move it in the dirction that moves your lock button to the unlocked position. If you really need a diagram many of the car part web sites will display a diagram for car parts. I've unlocked alot of doors with the method described and have never seen a diagram for what I'm doing. Good luck!

TAKE THE SLIMJIM AND WHILE SWEEPING UP AND DOWN NEAR THE LOCK CYLINDER, FEEL THE LOCK WITH ONE FINGER UNTIL IT MOVES, THEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT YOU ARE CLOSE TO THE ROD THAT ACTUATES THE CYLINDER. TRY CURVING THE SLIMJIM BOTH WAYS (TOWARDS AND AWAY FROM YOU) ALSO WATCH FOR THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR-LOCK FOR MOVEMENT. HOPE THIS HELPS. KEEP ME INFORMED PLEASE. YOUR PATIENCE WILL BE REWARDED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA.

After using slim jim car door will not open from outside or inside

You probably knocked the door linkage off during the slim jum operation, You will need to remove the inner door panel and re-connect the door handle linkage. Hopefully you did not break the plastic clip.

How do I slim jim into my 2006 chevy colorado with the keys locked inside?

it depends if your door has the antitheft plate, most cars have them now,its just a small metal plate inside the door to stop a slim Jim,if you door has a lock pin you can hook with banding that's the way to get in,but you will need a wedge to open the top of the door just a few mm then take the banding fold it in half and push it in the gap then slide one half forward to open the banding hook the lock pin then close the banding and pop the lock ok.

You will not unlock this car with a slim jim and you will most likely damage something.Call a locksmith. If you know someone with the airbag and reachrod system that is what I use and it works well.Good luck!

Keys are locked inside

slim-jim is tough on this vehicle

better choice is to wedge the door and use a long rod to unlock the door

if you can prove ownership you could have the dealer cut you a new key but that will cost just as much as a locksmith

Locked keys in toyota 4 runner. have slim jim wanted picture of door schmatic to find proper linkage to jimmie.

A typical slim jim wont do the trick for you.

You need special tools to do the trick. Most tow truck drivers have them.
