Question about 1999 Cadillac Escalade

1 Answer

On a 1999 cadillac deville I replaced the front and rear brake rotors and pads. After this, the warning lights anti brake and tracking lights are on. I'm hoping that the computer needs time to adjust. Please tell me if I am right in this theary. P.S after the replacement parts were installed everything seems to be working correct with no nose and it is braking good.

Try disconnecting the battery fo at least 60 seconds, this will manually re-set the computer. It will sometimes take a day or so for the light to go out. If it has ABS find a dead end street and get up to 40-45 MPH and slam on the brakes and check that everything is ok. That's the only way to properly check and not endanger any people. Good luck.

Why does my 1998 Cadillac Deville make the steering wheel shake when I brake at fast speeds ? It is very bad and would like to have repaired.

Your front rotors are warped. If they are in good shape and thick enough they may be able to turn them and make them true again.

If they are in bad shape or to thin they will need to be replaced. Check the amount of brake pad left while you are checking the rotors. If the pads are 2-4 mm they are ready to be replaced.

It also won't hurt to check the calipers to make sure the pistons move freely and check the caliper slides to make sure they are not frozen as well.

Cant remove rear brake pads on 1996 cadillac deville

Only the rust lip on rotor holding the caliper on

Sand off some of the outside rotor step, you can
easily get to

Can pull caliper to you, to compress the piston for
pad clearance

Can open bleeder to make it easier, have to bleed
system every 2 years on all cars anyway.

How do you put front brake pads on cadillac sedan deville 1996

Front brakes on all modern cars are disc brakes. The front brakes generally provide 80% of the stopping power, and so tend to wear faster than the rear. Replacing them - pads, rotors and calipers - is quite simple once you understand the process, and can save you a great deal of money. These instructions will include a full front brake replacement. Also, having a service manual for your vehicle will save your sanity, as well as time and money. If you only need pads, or pads and rotors, but not calipers, skip the steps for replacing calipers. Repeat the steps below for each side of the car as necessary.

I have a 1999 Old Silhouette Brake Warning Light

The front pads are worn down which makes the brake fluid fill up the void the brake pads are missing now due to wear. Replace the brake pads and brake rotors if the rotors are worn too, then top off the brake fluid if needed. You can top of the break fluid for now, but that's just going to turn off your break light warning till you breaks wear it self down to the point you damage the brake rotors.

Have the brake pads replaced and inspect the brake rotors, if your good with common tools you can do this job your self in under 1 hour. Tools you need is a jack, 15mm socket, ratchet, screw driver and a clamp. The Clamp is optional, you can get the brake pads at Auto Zone and they can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done. Keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have and good luck.

I have a 95 cadillac deville and everytime i turn left it squeaks or turns off and when i press the brakes i hear something rubbing

Hello, sounds like you need to check the condition of the brakes on your vehicle. Many times the outboard pad(closest to the wheel)will look ok but the inboard pad will be down to the metal. Check front and rear. I suspect the squeak you are hearing is the warning tab on the brake pad telling you its time for pad replacement. Hope this information was useful to you! Have a great day!

Brake pad warning light on golf gti 1.8t 1999 t reg

Brake wear indicator and low brake fluid warning indication are two different circuits.

They are not related.

Easy route to check brake pads is the measure the gab between the rotor and the metal portion of the brake pad.

If it's low then replace it.

The right way is to pull the tires and measure the thickness of the remaining brake pad.

Most shop give free brake inspection with oil change,

Check it out before the pad cuts into the rotor and it will DOUBLE the cost of your brake job.
