Cigarette lighter replacement

Possibly but more likely you've disturbed the wiring and it is now causing a short circuit

I got this free Pdf man ual from reliable-store for free and I don't think Ive visited a mechanic or fixya for help for more than 3-4 times out of the 20 t imes I fixed the chipper in these 4 years

To replace the lighter, you will need to get behind the lighter body, which has an outer shell screwed on behind the dash.
Disconnect the connectors on the back, then with the lighter taken out. Hold the inside body, and from behind the dash unscrew the outside body. The lighter will come apart in 2 separate parts.

Hello and welcome. thecigarette lighter wont come out by taking the dash apart. there is no retainer on the backside that holds it in place. there is a special tool that releases the lighter from the front. here is a picture of the tool

In earlier model vehicles, the cigarette lighter is on the same circuit as the dash lights/ radio/ interior lights. Maybe it's not labeled as cigarette lighter, try other fuses. also, there should be a fuse panel both inside dash and under the hood. Also, sometimes there can be an in-line fuse right behind the cigarette lighter.

First and most simple, get a new cigarette lighter. Stores sell just the part that plugs into the dash. If that does not solve the problem, check the fuse box. If that is not the problem, you will have to tear apart the dash, usually just take out the radio and replace the entire cigarette lighter.

chances are the heat from the cigar lighter melted and the a/c switch/wiring,replacement time.......(if you can get a small mirror behind dash to see if its melted you could save yourself a lot of hassle taking all apart).

hi mate , 2 get too the wiring you have too pull the dash apart take the ash tray out and undo the screws up in there and all others . my suggestion is too find another lighter that fits and try that first as thats what happened too me ,i pulled everything apart too find it was the actual lighter

YOU CAN PURCHACE A NEW 12V OUTLET AT ANY PARTS STORE. THEY ARE EASY TO INSTALL TOO. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE DASH TRIM. TWIST THE HOUSING OF THE OLD ON TO THE LEFT AND IT WILL UNSCREW. REPLACE WITH A NEW ONE THE SAME WAY. THERE ARE ONLY TWO WIRES THAT WILL PLUG RIGHT IN.

Check behind the dash for loose wiring connections. Check for bulkhead connectors that could have possibly come partially apart. Check for any under dash grounds that are ready to break or have become frayed.
