Question about 1997 Ford Explorer AWD

1 Answer

Cigarette lighter replacement

My cigarette lighter inside housing where you plug the lighter into, came apart from the connection behind the dash, it actually came out of the hole where the it is located. it looks like it just came unscrewed from the connection. How do I get behind the panel where the lighter is located?

If you are talking about the one near the radio, just pull back the dash panel, it snaps in and you can access the lighter

How to replace cigar lighter on lincoln continental 99 it is not a fuse i need to replace the whole thing

Hi,
To replace the lighter, you will need to get behind the lighter body, which has an outer shell screwed on behind the dash.
Disconnect the connectors on the back, then with the lighter taken out. Hold the inside body, and from behind the dash unscrew the outside body. The lighter will come apart in 2 separate parts.
Thanks
Jason

Trying to replace the aux cigarette lighter assembly in an 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. How do I take apart the dash to get behind panel?

Hello and welcome. thecigarette lighter wont come out by taking the dash apart. there is no retainer on the backside that holds it in place. there is a special tool that releases the lighter from the front. here is a picture of the tool

1994 honda accord can't fine fuse for my cigarette ligher to replace

In earlier model vehicles, the cigarette lighter is on the same circuit as the dash lights/ radio/ interior lights. Maybe it's not labeled as cigarette lighter, try other fuses. also, there should be a fuse panel both inside dash and under the hood. Also, sometimes there can be an in-line fuse right behind the cigarette lighter.

The cigarette lighter not work

First and most simple, get a new cigarette lighter. Stores sell just the part that plugs into the dash. If that does not solve the problem, check the fuse box. If that is not the problem, you will have to tear apart the dash, usually just take out the radio and replace the entire cigarette lighter.

A penny got caught in my cigarette lighter and now my My cigarette Lighter is not working and now my A/C switch is not working I changed the fuse

chances are the heat from the cigar lighter melted and the a/c switch/wiring,replacement time.......(if you can get a small mirror behind dash to see if its melted you could save yourself a lot of hassle taking all apart).

The cigarette lighter does not work on 1998 Olds Cutlass

It could be the plug on the back side of the lighter has come loose or is not making a good connection. It also may be the fuse, But if it has worked before, and doesn't now it is most likely the connection. You would need to take a section of the dash apart to get to it, but it's not too bad. Hope it helps.

How to change cigarette lighter housing unit

Once you remove the console to get to it there should be a bracket holing it in place. Undo wire and remove. Once you get to the inside you can't miss it.

Cigarette lighter

YOU CAN PURCHACE A NEW 12V OUTLET AT ANY PARTS STORE. THEY ARE EASY TO INSTALL TOO. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE DASH TRIM. TWIST THE HOUSING OF THE OLD ON TO THE LEFT AND IT WILL UNSCREW. REPLACE WITH A NEW ONE THE SAME WAY. THERE ARE ONLY TWO WIRES THAT WILL PLUG RIGHT IN.

Radio and cigarette lighter

Check behind the dash for loose wiring connections. Check for bulkhead connectors that could have possibly come partially apart. Check for any under dash grounds that are ready to break or have become frayed.
