SOURCE: automatic transmission wont catch into any gear

You sould have been moore frequent on your transmission fluid changes, and you shouldn't have taken it to Jiffy Lube either. Your best bet is to drain and fill the trans fluid run it shift gears. Drain and fill again. Do this 3 times. Yeah the transmission fluid is expensive. on the last drain and fill you want to get a bottle of LUBE GUARD from NAPA or who ever sells it. put the whole 10oz bottle in. Shift Rev, 1, 2, 3, D. Neutral Rev D. If that don't work then you have bad seals.

2003 Mitsubishi montero sport the shifter is broke and i need to know.removal of center console

you don't need to remove the whole console it is in sections, take a screwdriver and gently pry the front and side of the cup holder releasing the clips then pull strait up, you will see 2 phillips screws underneath remove those and pull up and back on the shifter cover, to remove the shift knob pry the lower part of the knob away from the from the top you will see 2 set screws underneath this cover then pull shifter strait up, don't forget to unplug the light for the gear selector from underside of the cover or the light assembly will break ( glued in place), the boot for the 2wd/4wd selector is held in place by 4 Phillips screws from the underside of the cover remove these and the boot stays on the selector and you can remove the cover

1988 Jaguar xj6 No forward in the automatic trans rev works fine

the linkage is just a slight bit off, it parks between gears when you shift into the slots. Disassemble the shifter from the center console, and slowly move just the cable its self between the positions and see if you have forword gears. When you find and sync the gears, then tighten the cable to the shifter so the positions match the notches in the shifter.

The floor shift to put automatic transmission in gear is loose.

you have to remove the console cover to get access to the bolts that hold the shift assembly to the floor. I think there are 4.

You probably have to remove the shift bezel cover (PRNDL), remove the shift knob to get the console off.
