Truck will start but will not idle or take gas when you put it in gear

Sounds like either the Mass Air Flow Sensor could be dirty or defective OR a simple vacuum leak.
To check for a vacuum leak, get a can or injector cleaner or even WD40, and spray around the intake until you hear a change.
To clean the MAF sensor, BE SURE to get sensor cleaner NOT carb. cleaner!!
Or, you can take it to Auto Zone and have the "Codes" checked FREE.
Hope that helps. :-)

2001 dodge dakota wont crank

Check the plugs to see if you all cylinders are burning clean. Multiple fouled plugs can cause the same problem. Wet plugs indicate they aren't firing at all, which means the coil pack isn't working. Check the air filter, it could be choking the motor if it's too dirty. Check the fuel filter to see if it's clogged from dirty gas.

No, check for your trouble codes. It might be the temperature sensor. It sends a message to the ECM them it sends a message to the throttle positioning sensor.

Fuel pump kicks on but not getting fuel to fuel rail

Check fuel pressure at test port, fuel filter and inspect the whole fuel line for kinks & crimps. If that doesn't work disconnect the fuel filter then use high pressure air to blow from the pressure regulator to the removed filter to ensure that the line is clear and open. Hook everything back up and check for pressure.

No fuel pressure on 1993 Dodge Dakota, How do I check the fuel pump? I cannot hear it run.

If you cannot hear the fuel pump prime up when you turn the key to on there is a fault with your fuel pump. check the fuse in the fuse relay box and the 2 wired connections on the fuel pump, if still no good than replace the fuel pump

89 dakota was sputtering. Wife put gas in it (it was low) and got home fine (10 mi.). started up this morn. and it died after .25 mi. Got it started and got it home. pump or relay?

Did it run out of gas? could be fuel filter.Otherwise turn the key to the run position and you should hear the fuel pump (zzzzzzzzzzzzz),you may only hear it for a couple of seconds, turn the key off and back to run to hear it again. If you don't hear it I would suspect fuel pump,
