Hello Michaelatkin :

Is this jaguar US based as far as specifications ?

US-Based with engine running and Timing light on is 20 degrees "BTDC " at 1700 RPM .

US-Based " TDC " at 650 RPM with engine running and Timing light on .

US-Based " STATIC TIMING " ENGINE OFF = 10 degrees " BTDC "

I hope that this info has been helpful to you .

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Can I use unleaded gas when the mercruser book says to use leaded gas?

yes
the lead content was used to reduce the detonation (spontaneous combustion) of the mixture
the octane rating has not changed
all that may be required is to change the ignition timing to a few degrees less that previously set ( example 10 degrees btdc back to 8 or 9)
if in doubt , you can still buy small bottles of lead additive to add to the fuel ( available from auto spares shops )
what you will not use is e-mix fuels as the ethanol absorbs water from the air and anywhere it can get it , then it settles out of the petrol and rust , corrosion and rubber rot sets in
definitely not a good idea for outboard or any older vehicle

I have a 1999 Volkswagen Microbus Exclusive 2.6I which runs on leaded petrol. Two months ago we filled the tank inadvertently with unleaded petrol. Now the vehicle jers in second gear. Has this got to

easy to check. look under the vehicle close to the manifold and if you see an oval shaped stainless steel containerther you most likely will have a c/c. next point if you use leaded in a unleaded vehicle it will affect the catalytic converter buy causing it to block up.next the oxygen senson may be contaminated and not sending the right readings to the cpu so the engine management system will be affected. Best have it checked at a dealer before you do any more damage.

Can 94 jetta run on leaded or unleaded petrol

It is best to run this engine on unleaded petrol. A high grade unleaded will give you extra performance and cause no damage. Leaded fuel was designed for cars made in the 60's to 80's that had used softer materials in their cylinder heads, leaded fuel pro-longed cylinder head life and reduced pre-ignition. Unleaded fuels are a cleaner, safer fuel to use.

I need the timming specs in my 1966 buick riviera its got a 425 nailhead single 4.

The spark plug type is 44S and the gap is .032. The ignition points should be set at a 30 degree dwell angle or a .016 point gap. The ignition timing should be set at 2-1/2 to 3 degrees before top dead center, and the engine compression should be 170 psi. Let me know if you require a firing order diagram or any further assistance.

NO FUEL GOING TO ENGINE, BUT ENGINE WANTS TO TURN OVER

Hi

Have you flushed out all of the old unleaded fuel from the system and fitted a new fuel filter? Unleaded fuel only lasts for a very short while before going off. You need to flush out the tank and the fuel lines and then put fresh fuel in the tank and fit a new fuel filter or you could be leading yourself on a wild goose chase.

Do you hear the fuel pump running for a second or two when you switch on the ignition? If not then you need to check the fuel pump positive terminal for battery voltage with a volt meter whilst someone switches on the ignition for you, and check the fuel pump negative terminal to ensure it is properly earthed.

If you have a live and an earth at the pump but the pump still isn't running then you need to renew the fuel pump.

If these suggestions don't solve your problem then I'll need to know what size engine is in the car before I advise you further.

Regards

Geordie
