Power windows quit working

The power windows in my 1977 cadillac coupe de ville quit working. I checked the circuit breaker in the fuse box and it looks good.

OK, thanks will do. The car has only 77,000 miles, xlnt shape, so a break is not likely. both windows worked then one stopped working and a few days later the other stopped working. The owners manuel shows a circuit breaker but I didn't see a fuse.

On a 77' I'd go directly to switch & check for power there, if none, and your sure all the fuses etc have been checked and are o.k., take a good look at the door jamb area where harness is near hinges for a break or corroded wire in the loom that folds when door is closed & opened. See if you have power coming through that area.

Sounds like a nice cruiser. Window tracks (felt) may be a little dry & causing excessive amperage draw, thus tripping circuit breaker. Spraying some silicone down those tracks may get things moving easier, to help lower amp draw when in use. Most of those circuit breakers either reset when they cool, or when ignition turned off, then back on. Could be right in switch too, so testing will tell the story.

FYI. Have you gone to ( ) yet & signed up for free access to manuals? I see it has quite a bit for that vehicle, along with wiring diagrams, fuse panel pictures etc, which may come in handy for you .

Hey Tony I'm having the same problem with my 1977 Coupe now. The exact same, in the same order as your window problem. Can you tell me what you did to fix the problem. Thanks

RE: Power windows quit working 1986 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer

Hi Steve,
If you have a test light check each side of the circuit beaker, one end on the battery neg and the other on each terminal of the circuit breaker.
If you don't find one that only has power on one side, get some to try the windows while you check them again, the circuit beaker may only be failing under load.

If no power to the fuse panel for that fuse and circuit breaker, you may have a maxi-fuse burnt out in the power distribution box by or near the battery. Check all your fuses under the hood.

Hi, 2008 328xi coupe, the power window buttons on driver's door stopped working, is there a fuse?

The window operate on a circuit breaker type fuse, fi the window are working with the other buttons then its not a power loss problem, the circuit breaker hardly ever fails, also sometimes if the master switch which is the driver door switch, fails then you may not be able to operate the other windows with the other switches but not always the case, also theres a module that controls the winows, i would remove the door switch and make sure the connection is good, these switches often go bad from getting wet, just to be on the safe side there may be a fuse for the window module if that goes theen glass will not work, theres a fuse box on the right side of the dash and then there one in the truck on the right side i would check all the fuses, they sometimes use power from another system so check all fuses, good luck,

What would be the most common problem besides the fuse, that my fans are not working and thus may be the reason my car is overheating and the solution to it. I have a 1986 Cadillac De Ville 4 Door V 8. I...

It could be several things.
1. Fan relay, as this controls power to the fan.
2.Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker, usually both located in the fuse panel
3. Thermostat that tells the fan relay to start based on heat at the radiator.

Each of these need to be verified as working properly prior to any additional troubleshooting.
