Question about 2001 Lincoln Town Car
My driver window is about 2/3 open and will not go up. The window will go down so I don't think it's the motor. I believe it most likely is the switch but do not know what I have to do to get to the switch. The service deparment at the dealership told me that normally this would cost about $500 which I think is ridiculous. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to diagnose and repair this myself?
Possibly the gear on the motor has stripped as a lot of them are just plastic and not made to last as most things these days aren't.
to get to the inside of the door you have to strip the interior door trim off to gain access to the door, then you have to work out how the motor comes out which really isn't too hard if you are a bit mechanically inclined, If you aren't I suggest you pay someone to do it for you as it may be a bit daunting for a novice.
I agree the prices they charge these days are just a rip off but they know if you don't know how to do it you have to pay the price, that is highway robbery in my books.
