Wont start when i try to it will turn over but not turn on.

Ive replaced the fuel filter, and the fuel pump is working. I also replaced the valve gasket cover to stop a oil leak. i then replaced that spark plugs and the ignition pack. that still didnt fix the problem so i replaced the crank shaft sensor. after all of this my check engine light has gone off but it still wont start. It will turn over but its not starting. what could it be?

It can be alternator itself.

SOURCE: Extended starting time

Sounds like an ignition problem..
The Direct Ignition module in the turbo model can fail but is easily tested and replaced.

Remove turn the , Direct Ignition module put the spark plugs in the holes, ground each plug to the negative battery terminal by use of a wire about 2 feet long and stripped at each plug. Crank over the engine over watching the spark plugs. If there is a problem with the cassette, one of the plugs will have no spark or a very weak spark. Also, when you turn the ignition key off there should be a shower of sparks that runs all of the plugs simultaneously several times.
DANGER BE CAREFUL ! ! ! EXTREMELY HIGH VOLTAGE! There have been occasions when the Direct Ignition module would test ok when turned upside down but would fail when turned back over to install into the valve cover ?
Also: Oil leakage from the individual coils of the Direct Ignition module have also been a problem. Oil leaks can be identified by noting that there is oil surrounding spark plug hole.
Hope this helps.
Cheers MMP

SOURCE: 1999 saab cranks wont start

Disconnect your fuel filter and turn the key on. If it shoots gas several feet away, then the start cycle on the fuel pump is probably good. if not, then get a new fuel pump. If it's good, then the problem will be in your fuel regulator, or injectors.

Wont start after sitting over night when starting have to give gas than it starts 1997 nissan maxima

This problem is often caused by a defective fuel pump pressure check valve, this allows the fuel in the lines and the filter to drain back into the tank, this causes hard starting. The pressure check valve is part of the fuel pump so you must replace the fuel pump to correct the problem, the fuel p[ump is located inside the fuel tank.

Wont start or stay on

From the info you provided, it seems like it is not getting constant supply of fuel. I think that don't have a carburator. It has a TBI(Throttle Body Injector. You should hear a faint humming noise at the back coming from within the fuel tank when you turn the key on. Thats the fuel pump. Your fuel pump may have gone out.

Crank position sensor bad?
Are you sure the fuel pump is working? Might be the sending unit in the fuel pump that is bad. Clogged lines, clogged fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter, all things that could be checked.

Car wont start

At first, I thought 'coil pack'. But you said it tried to start. So that's out. You might check that you're getting spark just to be thorough.

Did it ever start again after the stall on the interstate?

If not, I'm leaning towards the timing chain.

What happens if your timing chain broke:
  • The timing chain no longer turns the cam(s)
  • The cam(s) no longer open/close the valves
  • The valves become stationary, remaining open or closed depending on the position of the cam(s)
  • If even one valve is open in a cylinder, no compression.
  • No compression, no start.
How do you confirm this without tearing apart your engine?

Do a compression test on all cylinders. If only one or two have compression (or one or more have zero compression), I'm tipping over towards the timing chain.

Have a compression test done.

Hope this helps
