Question about 2002 Honda CR-V

2002 Honda CR-V Battery Light needs to be reset

We replaced the alternator on my 2002 Honda CR-V today & now the battery light on the instrument panel is still lit. We took it to the parts store where we bought the alternator and had them test the entire charging system to be sure the alternator was good & charging system was good. Everything tested great. How do I reset this light?

Check to see if alternator is charging. Battery light is an indicator that your alternator is not charging. Start engine use multimeter at battery 20 v dc or if autorange meter just dc. engine at idle the battery should read 14 - 14.5 volts. if not replace alternator.

Battery light flashing

The battery light on, is an indication of alternator failure. If your battery is more than 3 years old it needs replacement . A bad battery can damage a new alternator (full field condition). The age of your truck warrants inspection of the charging system. It requires at Least 20 amps output, from the alternator to run the engine.

YOU NEED TO CHECK OR CALL THE FORD DEALERSHIP.TELL THEM YOUR ENGINE SIZE AND YEAR OF VECHICLE.THEY WILL TELL YOU WHAT AMP ALTERNATOR TO USE.IF YOU HAVING IDLING PROBLEMS.WHEN YOU DISCONNECT BATTERY.TO REPLACE ALTERNATOR.THE COMPUTER LOST MEMORY.WHICH WILL CAUSE YOU TO LOSE IDLE CAUSING VECHICLE TO STALL OUT AT STOP SIGNS OR LIGHTS.THE COMPUTER WILL RELEARN ITS SELF BUT ITS BEST TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP TO RESET YOUR IDLE SO YOUR VECHICLE WILL STOP STALLING OUT ON YOU.

Battery light blinking

No, if the light is coming on it indicates that the alternator output is not adequate to recharge the battery. You have some sort of charging issue. Take the car to an autoparts store and have the alternator output checked. Most stores offer this service free of charge. You may have a short in the output wiring or some other problem. Hope this helped and best wishes.
