Did you check the cylinder compression?

  • Anonymous Mar 15, 2014

When it is not missing it runs great, but whether I'm accelerating or sitting at a light it will run great and then start missing and then run great again. Also there is no check engine light or codes from the computer.

2004 Sorento began with code P0305, cyl #5 misfire. Inspected and replaced plugs, wires, and coil pack on cyl #2. Repair shop told me cyl #5 injector bad so they replaced. Still has misfire.I suggeste

If you had code P0305, I don't know why they would have done anything to the #2 cylinder but if they have already replaced the plugs, wires and injector; here are a few more items to check:
1) Check connections from ECM. Look for any corrosions or bent/broken pins.
2) Check the fuel line pressure
3) Check the engine compression
4) And if the above are good, then you will probably have a defective ECM

P0305 and p0200 on a 2003 chevy blazer 4.3 , runs really rough

P0305 is a misfire on number 5 cylinder replace spark plugs, wires cap and rotor button. Please note: Does the ac cooling line/hose go over top the distributor ? If so GM/CHEY had a problem when dripping from that AC line/hose dripped down onto the distributor. That caused miss fires after a time. I hope this helps, Lee.

It could be the co2 sensor, but have you thought of having a cylinder leakage test done?? A competent garage should be able to perform this test for you. Basically they pump compressed air into each cylinder on the firing stroke, in turn, to establish that all is gas tight. If you have a broken piston ring or leaking valve, this will show up as a leak and could explain the rough running, especially on number five.

Po305 obd2 code for a 2002 chevy trailblazer

The P0305 code is indicating that there is a misfire of cylinder number 5. This could be caused by a bad spark plug, bad coil pack, injector, poor compression.

Code p305 help car runs good little rough on acceleration but runs smooth for the most part

P0305 Code - Cylinder #5 Misfire
A P0305 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #5.

Symptoms may include:
the engine may be harder to start
the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
other symptoms may also be present

Causes: A code P0305 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer

Possible Solutions:
- If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

- If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Test, check it and keep us updated.
