I have a 1999 Silverado 1500 ls with the 5.7 v8 I been having a start up problem and I got the knock sensors 2 done. No fuel pressure or fuel pump problem no battery or starter problem. But when I try to start it, it will then on but gets to idle and shuts off I looked at the engine oil dip stick and the engine oil is over operating limits could this be an issue with it turning on or staying on when I slow down? When I slow down the idle drops and wants to shut off. It likes to fight from shutting off.

Smell the oil - if it has a fuel odor, you may have a leaky injector flooding its cylinder - the fuel is running down into the oil pan. This can damage the cylinder because the rings would not be properly lubricated in this situation, so don't put off fixing it. This may also cause run-on when you turn off the ignition - the unwanted fuel explodes at full compression. If your check engine light is on, you may find it helpful to read out the error message(s) - 1995 and newer computers can often identify which cylinder has problems.

Some or most cases the throttle body has a air charge temp sensor built on it or your throttle positioning sensor is going bad. Most engines that size operating oil psi is 40to 60 depending on the type and weight.

Anti theft system. You might have a door lock causing the anti theft system to kick in. (thinking its being stolen.)

I suspect you have had an oil pump failure. To get at the rotory gear oil pump you will have to drop the oil pan. After you take the pan off, ( having drained the oil the oil pump is what the oil pick up line leads into. That pick up assy. is a round shaped disc with a screen inside it. Clean the screen first then the oil pump. Install new oil pan gasket on reassembly. Hope that helps you. Please let me know.

Hopefully the engine was not damaged when the pump broke. If it was you may need a complete engine rebuild, MAYBE.

Not sure what to do but the 2000 chevy silverado 1500 Z71 V8 truck that i have wont take in gas. we thought that it was the fuel pump so we replaced that and the fuel filter but the truck still wont start....

Did you check the voltage to the pump to insure it was getting full power? Check the fuel pressure regulator? Also take a manual fuel pressure reading. A faulty crank sensor will also cause a no start condition.

I have a 1999 Chevy LS 2500, when I start it cold it struggles to accelerate and occasionally something knocks when cold and losses power. Even if I let it warm up the problem persists for about a mile....

Number of problems it could be.
1. Clogged or bad fuel pump/filter
2. Plugged catalytic converters
3. Tune up, air filter, plugs & wires
4. Vacuum leaks
5. Bad cam / crank sensor
Sounds like it's starving for either fuel or air.

1997 Chevy Silverado, Starting issue: I have changed plugs/wires/rotor/cap/fuel filter/air filter, etc,,,. Still diificult to start takes any where from 5 -15 cranks, ready to replace fuel pump again after...

The best way to help find the problem, is to have a fuel pressure test done on it, that will tell if the fuel pump is weak, or the fuel pressure regulator is malfunctioning. If the pressure is low, the fuel pump is weak,
if it is high, the fuel regulator is at fault.

Starts runs realy rough then dies put new fuel

It sounds like you already solved your problem. Attach fuel gauge to fuel rail pressure line and monitor for fuel pressur (above 30 p.s.i. @ crank). If pressure low suspect pump. If pressure o.k. but dies out and pressure drops but restarts, check oil sending switch as this controls fuel pump. Computer primes pump for start, then oil sender powers up pump for normal operation. Check for oil leaking at terminals on sender. Also check plug connector at fuel sender on tank as they are known to melt and fail. If fuel not problem, check for spark as ignition module failure is common. Have obd2 diagnostic run to check for codes as this may help with diagnosis.

Where is the knock sensor located on the 2000 silverado 1500 4wd

the knock sensor on V6 models are threaded into tranny mounting flange just below the oil pressure sending unit. On V8 models it is under the Intake Manifold.

1999 silverado v8

your fuel pump is bad.   Even if you have pressure.   had the same problem and did not want to spend the money and a pump when I had pressure nor did I want to drop the tank.  Glad I did.
The pump will not keep the pressure needed to start your truck.
