ya the two plugs on the back are plugged in all the way the snapps are snapped in but on the one one the left there is a black wire with blue stripes and it isnt connected to anything and its hot it sparks when i ground it out

there are two empty holes where it looks like there could be a wire but it has a connector head on it like it goes on a bolt and im pretty sure it isnt hitting another hot wire cause i touched it on a couple of things like the bracket the radio sets on and the steel on the plow switch the wire is prob only 1 foot long at most

I checked some online wiring diagrams for this and they don't show a black wire with blue stripe... Year is definitely a 1986? Factory radio right? Sorry I haven't been much help yet...

can you check the two connector plugs and see if there are any tell=tale signs of where that wire may have been connected? Can you put a voltage tester on it to check if it's got power or if the sparks were from hitting another hot wire?

There should be two connector plugs on the back of your radio...are they both properly clicked into place? You can check it before reinstalling the radio in the dash... let me know.

On aftermarket decks , a blue wire is energized when the stereo is on. It is to control a power antena , or triger an external amplifier.
When is your birthday... ? Ask for a haynes manual for your truck. You will learn much , be able to fix just about anything , impress your friends , and save countless dollars.

Horn and brake lights

This happend when you put a new sterio? Now your horn and tail lights dont work. Well some models require and extra harness to make the after market sterio work, check in to that. Or a fuse, make you where the wire is and trace it to see if it goes to the radio

86 f250 6.9 diesel. using a brand new 12v test light to test brand new glow plugs (pos to bat , neg to plug term.) not a one lighting? if i ground neg test light to grnd. motor, etc. lite is on. could i be...

You are doing it wrong probably.
If you want to test current to the glowplug, remove the wire and test between it and ground.
If you want to test the glowplug itself, then use an ohmmeter. That is because you don't know what the resistance should be in comparison with the test light, and it sounded like you were testing it in parallel. If the glowplug drew a lot of current, which it probably does, then it would **** so much current way from the testlight, that it would not light up. In general, bad glowplug either go to 0 or infinite resistance, but an ohmmeter will still be more accurate. A test light can be used, but you need to put it in series, not parallel as you would with a light bulb.

How do I tighten the steering on a 1986 ford f250 diesel

there may be an adjustment screw on top of the gear box,the problem is all it really does is makes the steering wheel harder to turn.if you do try it then do only 1/2 turn..if you go too tight then the gears wont mesh right
