Question about Mazda B2300

1 Answer

My turn signal quit working in my 1995 Mazda B2300 2WD Pick-up

This is not going to be easy best I can tell:

- I already replaced the hazard/turn-signal flasher.

- I have checked every fuse in the engine and dash-side compartments and even tried new fuses to be sure. Also there are no empty slots for fuses to go into. So nothing is missing.

- I have replaced the turn signal switch.

- The hazard lights do light all 4 of the corner bulbs and all bulbs do light up, so it's not the bulbs.

I can remember when the turn signals quit. It was a gradual processtaking months during which they started acting like they were shorting out untilfinally, they just quit working.

Is there some kind of replacement wiring harness I can buy that wouldbe an easy fix? I am stuck at this point and have even considered analternate wiring job with separate switch for turn signals- but wouldthat pass inspection if it didn't automatically shut off after a turn? Thanks for reading.

Yes, I have checked the turn signal relay. When I use the hazard lights I hear the turn signal relay clicking, but not when I use the turn signal. No, this model of vehicle has the flasher relay under the steering column. The fuse panel is on the left of the dash and only has slots for fuses in it. Thanks for trying.

According to the multimeter, I get just over 12 volts from the left turn signal with it switched on and the key switch in run. I get nothing however from the right turn signal with it switched on and the key switch in run. This is with each given fuse removed and the positive wire touching one of the fuse terminals and the negative touching the car frame. I tested each of the two fuses, one at a time.

Where then would you say my problem lies? Between battery and fuse box, or fuse box to the switch? So you know, we have indeed changed out key switches (and keys) before on this truck, but the turn signal worked still after the change. Today I cleaned two ground connections that were going to the body of the truck. I will continue cleaning ground connections to the frame in hopes it will eventually fix the turn signals. Thank you for your help this far!

You said you pulled the fuses when you checked for voltage, did you check both sides of the terminals for voltage?

Do you read the same voltage with the turn signal off? It should be the same as with it on.

Do you have both a left and right turn signal fuse?

You have done an excellent job of troubleshooting so far.  I would start checking for voltage at the fuses, not just whether the fuses are good.  I sounds like you have a loose ground somewhere one the turn signal circuit.  Electrical problems are the hardest to troubleshoot since you can short out or loose a ground anywhere in the circuit to make it inoperable.  Using a multimeter check voltage at the associated fuses (put your red lead on the fuse contacts and the black on the car chassis).  If you have voltage, the broken connection is from the fuse box to the switch.  If you don't have voltage, the broken connection is from the battery to the fuse box.  Keep trying and let me know what else you find.  A loose common ground would affect other car features (see if you have lost other functions).

Have you checked the turn signal relay? When you use the turn signal, do you at least hear the "clicking" noise. If not, your relay may be defective. It is should be mounted in the interior fuse panel. Check the diagram on the inside of the fuse panel cover.

I have a 98 mazda protege and my turn signals don't work. Sometimes they work not always. What can. It be?

It sounds like your directional signal switch is going bad. I would suggest you take it to a Mazda dealer and see if it needs to be replaced. My thinking is that for a 1998 it has see a little bit of action. A good local mechanic should be able to diagnose and repalce it as well. Call them first to see what they say. If you are savvy you may take it to have it checked out and if it needs to be replaced and the part is quite expensive, oftentimes they may let you shop the part online and then bring it in to be installed. I would not recommend this approach in working with a dealership.

Engine light own 1996 b2300 mazda pick up 6 cylinder 54,000 mi

The first step into seeing why the check engine light is on is to scan the codes, the computer will turn on this light when it sees a problem and then it stores codes . the codes are stored to tell you what part of the system has failed, you will need to go to an auto part store and they will scan it for free and give you a printout of the codes, good day.

Left turn signal on 1991 Mazda Protege will not work. I changed the bulb and that did not solve the problem. The flashers work and the right turn signal is OK. Just the left turn will not work. Any ideas ?

Could be the switch itself. Pretty easy to replace the whole turn signal switch. I've had the flashers go out also on mine, but mine ended up being the switch. I grabbed one from a recycling yard, cost me less than $20.

1995 Mazda 626 Alternater light was flickering, but now stays on all the time

This is quite easy. Have the battery tested to be sure it is still in good working order. Replace your alternator. While they are testing the battery (in the car), have them test the charging system just to verify and give you piece of mind that what I'm saying is true. Let me know if you need anything else.

Turn Signals quit working

Sounds like the turn signal flasher is going bad. The easy way to find wher the flasher is hidden is turn the turn signal on and find the clicking, that is the flasher. The emergency flashers work fine because they use a different flasher.

I need to hook up a boat trailor Whats the color code for a 1995

I suspect that the 4 wire harness includes a ground, so you may not be able to connect both brake lights and turn signals, which are separate lamps on the pickup. You may need to get an adapter.

In any case, the color codes on the pickup are:

Tail lights -- pink/blue
Brake Lights -- green/yellow
Left turn signal -- gray/blue
Right turn signal -- gray/red
Ground -- black

1995 GMC Sierra z71 oil pressure dropped- need advice on this

The oil pump is in the oil pan and needs to be dropped and being a 4WD you also need to drop the front axle pumpkin to remove the oil pan and replace all the gasket needed. Start with the easy and replace the oil pressure sending unit, it's on the back of the engine to the passenger side of the distributor. You can go to Auto Zone and pick up a new Oil sending unit, just make sure your get the right one, "Sending Unit" Looks the same are the oil pressure sensor but the unit reads the pressure, the other just signal a light to go on and off. It's an easy fix like replacing a spark plug.
