It's most likely the "shroud" and you can get a new one at the dealer, online at an auto parts site, or a a local wrecking yard (a used one... probably less than half the retail of a new one...)..

How do i fix a crack in my radiator in my 1996 chevrolet cavalier

Is your radiator Plastic and metal? or Just metal? where is the crack? Can you see the "crack" or can you just see it leaking antifreze? It could be a hose clamp leak,or small hole? At this point without knowing that it is a crack for sure ,all I can say is check hose clamps ,they also sell a product called Bars . Any auto parts store has ,it seals small radiator leaks ,be sure to follow directions on bottle! I would recommend changing the raditor if your keeping the car,or really depend
on it,they like to go bad at the worst possible times!

A cracked plastic radiator hose housing/inlet?

You can take the radiator to a radiator shop for them to replace it. That or replace the radiator. It would be cheaper to have it rebuilt by a radiator shop. this is something you can't repair yourself. The radiator has 35 psi in the system when the car is running. Being plastic, the side can be changed or replaced. If you keep running the car with the crack, you stand a chance of damaging the engine.

My 1998 Chevy Silverado has coolant leaking from the radiator at the small metal fitting at the top drivers side of the rad. Is the a seal that can be replaced or does the entire rad need to be replaced?

There's not usually a seal for these, the metal is commonly molded into the plastic sides of the radiator.. Remove the radiator tube and inspect the plastic around the fitting for cracks. If you find cracks in the plastic, then you know your answer. If it's leaking from around the radiator hose you could try replacing the clamp with a hose clamp that you can tighten with a screw driver.

My guess is the plastic is cracked there, and the radiator needs replaced, but you should inspect it first of course.

Good luck

I assume you are talking about the lastic side tank on the radiator. A radiator shop can repalce the end tank. Call for a price quote first.

Plastic radiator repair

I doubt you can actually fix it "yourself", but you can save lots of money by taking it to a radiator shop instead of buying a used or new radiator. They can replace the plastic tank for the bad side, but it is usually the drivers side because this is where the hottest water exits the engine and causes the plastic to crack. I removed the radiator myself and took mine to a shop and they repaired it for $40........cannot repair yourself because the tank has to be crimped on!!!! And radiator "stop leak" products will not work because they are for metal tanks!!!
