Keyless entry doesn't work from a distance

Pretty much self-explanatory. Keyless entry used to work from far away (>20 feet) and now it barely works when I'm within two feet!

SOURCE: keyless entry on honda civic 2006 not working

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.

I went through programing as far as lock recycling but wont go any further

Remote Transmitter Programming NOTE: All keyless entry remote transmitters must be programmed at the same time.
NOTE: Programming (or reprogramming) the keyless entry remote transmitters into the central security module can be accomplished using a diagnostic tool or by carrying out the following steps.
  1. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN eight times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. If the module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.
  1. Within 20 seconds, press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed. Repeat this step for each transmitter.
  1. If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait several seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Inspection and Verification.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to 20 seconds after Step 2, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the doors will lock and unlock one last time to confirm.

My keyless entry is not working untill I am less then ten feet away, usually within arms reach to the drivers door. I would like to check the receivers attena but dont know where it is and have not been...

I would first replace the battery in the key fob. If it works when youn are close, then I would think it is
working properly. A low battery will decrease the distance it will work. While you have the fob apart, visually check the circuitry for any loose ,burnt or funny looking connections.

My remote start and keyless entry remote only works up to 5 feet away how do i extend the distance. i bought new remotes and had them programmed but still no distance

On my cars this has always been a remote battery replacement issue, weak battery equals weak signal causes short range. However you say you bought new remotes and they must have had new batteries in them. Did someone put some metal foil shielding around the receiver?I think this would have to be some type of bad receiver issue.

How do i self program a keyless entry remote for my 2005 ram

ATTENTION: You MUST HAVE one working remote to add one more to the system. If you do not have one working remote right now then these instructions will not work. You will have to have a Locksmith or dealership use a computer to program the first remote for you.

1. Turn ignition to the RUN position (as far as you can go without starting the engine).
Wait for chimes to stop.
2. Using original programmed remote, press and hold the UNLOCK button on the
remote for between 5 and 10 seconds.
3. While holding UNLOCK button, and before 10 seconds passes, press and release
the
PANIC button. A chime will sound to indicate that the transmitter programming
mode
has been entered.
4. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press a button on all remotes to be programmed
into the system including any previously programmed remotes, a chime will
sound after each remote has been programmed.
5. Turn the ignition OFF to exit the transmitter programming mode.

6. Test Remotes

Thank you for using fixya and good luck
