Question about 1998 BMW 7 Series
1998 BMW 740il Loss Of Power
My car started to loose power at high speeds a few months back. If over 85-95 mph on the highway, car felt like if would gear down and check engine light would blink. It progressed to the point that now the car starts after a few attempts, engine sounds fine, exhaust sound odd with a clear fuel smell, it runs but shakes with no get up, can't even get on the highway anymore. Im thinking its my fuel system... any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks!
The flashing or "blinking" service engine light is indicating an over fueling condition that may damage the catalytic converter. There is a good possibility you have a defective or stuck injector, possibly ignition issue.
Take you car to Auto Zone and ask to have the codes read, they will do this for you at no charge, write the codes down and reply back.
Let me know.
