I had the exact same problem. It is the motor, the gear in it has worn down and it wont catch to pull the window down. Take the panel off of the tailgate and remove the motor and wiring. You can buy a rebuilt motor for about $35 and sell your old one back. It is easy to replace, and definitely don't pay $200 the dealership will charge to fix it. I had just bought my 4runner and had no idea about fixing things on it when I replaced my rear window motor, so anyone can do it.

Toyota's are prone to wiring rot. a Local toyota dealer has told me (with the same problem) to chop the middle of the pannel off for the tailgate to get into the wiring. the connectors may have rotted off. if you find a solution, let me know.

Power window (rear one) not working for toyota camry 2000

ok. First does the winow operate when controlled from the drivers door. If yes but not from the rear door then the rear door switch has come unplugged or the switch is faulty. Now if the window does not operate from either switch. Verify that there is voltage at the rear door switch, if so and then operate the switch and check for voltage reaching the window motor. If voltage is present the replace the motor

First make sure that the rear wiper is parked all the way down in the receptacle on the door, if the wiper is not down all the way for some reason the window will lock. Next check the motor itself by removing the rear inner panel and the metal plate, apply power from a 12 volt source directly to the motor, unplug it and ground one side and power to the other, the reverse connections if there is no response from the motor replace it, if the motor works this way a common problem is the back door ECU.

Rear window stuck-Convertable

does the window try to move, meaning it is stuck in its track, or does the motor not try to move the window? If the latter then look at the rocker switch on your center console that controls the rear windows. I had to replace my switches to get my rear windows working.
