took to autozone, where is the idle air contol valve located . also when car is running you can hear a hissing sound in back of engine. we believe it's a vacuume leak where should we look. also with the stalling could it be a fuel filter and where is that located .

I have the same problem, or at least I think I do. Whenever I am stopped at a red light, driving at a very low speed (0-10mph), remaining in "park", etc. my 2000 ford focus starts to shake and the battery and engine lights on the dashboard will flash in and out with the shakes. Then the car completely stops and the two lights are lit up. To prevent this, I have had to sit in neutral with my parking brake on and rev the engine so it doesn't cut out. Can someone please help me with this, it's killing me. Thanks

2 things. Have Autozone do a free computer scan & see if you have fault codes.

Have some check your Idle Air Contol valve. (IAC). It porvides air so your engine can idle

I think this is all due to your vacuum leak.
Look for a hose not connected to the throttle body or the intake manifold. Use a piece of hose to find the source of the leak. Hold one end near ear and probe around the engine carefully.

My 2007 ford focus stalls out when driving. Then will not run when I try to start it back up. Kind of feels like it's vapor locking. Is this a sign of the fuel pump going bad?

Thomas, a faulty/weak fuel pump could show these symptoms, so could a partially clogged filter, among other possible causes. Best to have vehicle scanned, diagnosed and estimate for repair. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

If you Blew off the timing belt then need Head work also since it is an interference Motor
meaning that the Valve train and Pistons Have no Clearance so U are going to need a lot more work than just a timing belt to run

also check battery terminals are tight check its full of battery water too if its been low for a time bump it!
and have a ""drop meeter test"" done on the battery if its a bad battery it should show that up first time it could have cracked plates inside the battery its self, test by turning on head lights then hit starter, if every thing go's dead!!!! put ""good jump start"" battery on to car and try it again,,, all should work just fine then,,,,it could just be a flat battery?????

Car stalling and shaking

Check for vacumn leaks. Replace coil. Check plug boots for oil or water on them. PCV hose from intake manifold will get soft and collapse. Replace motor mounts. The passanger side mount is a fluid filled mount.
