It always makes good sense to mark parts before disassembling them. Clutch parts are balanced at the factory while on the engine. If the clutch cover is to be used again, it should be replaced in its original position. Make a centerpunch mark on the flywheel and on the clutch.
Use a HEPA vacuum to vacuum any asbestos dust from the assembly before disassembling it. Asbestos fibers can pass through a regular vacuum bag.
Use an aligning arbor to hold the disc while removing the clutch cover.

Unbolt the pressure plate bolts evenly to prevent bending the plate when the last bolt is removed. Carefully remove the assembly. Be careful not to drop the parts; they are heavy.
Inspect the clutch parts for damage. You will want to determine the cause before replacing the parts. A repeat failure must be avoided.
Use hot soapy water, brake parts cleaner, or alcohol to clean off any grease from clutch parts. Metal surfaces can be deglazed with sandpaper.
Do not wash clutch parts in solvent. Solvent contains oil that will be absorbed into the friction surfaces of the metal.
A clutch cover assembly is usually replaced when a disc is worn. If it is unworn, it may be reused. If you choose to reuse a clutch cover that appears to be in good condition, inspect the pressure plate to see that it is flat.
To replace the clutch assembly:

  • Install the clutch cover.
  • Install the clutch disc.
  • Attach the disc and clutch cover to the flywheel.
  • Align the punch marks on the flywheel and clutch cover if the parts are being reused.
  • Align the clutch disc.

Yes i have a 1992 honda accord standard, i just replace the slave and master cylinder and it dont want to go into know gear but reverse

If you put it in gear before starting engine, and then hold clutch down and try to start engine, does car try to move as if clutch is not working? If so, bleed air from clutch system. If this does not fix problem, it is always possible you got a bad replacement part.

No pressure on clutch tryn to bleed and let reservoir run empty,,havnt gpt it back,,,dont know what to do?????please help

put a bar behind clutch arm on gearbox and pull it in so the slave cylinder goes in ,then open bleed valve, now assistant pumps up the clutch so the slave pushes out then put bar in the arm again and pull in back with the bleed valve open then when its in cles it and repeat operation again and it should be`perfect,if not push pedal down and jam it down with a brick and leave overnight that normally works

Transmission/clutch problems

try stomping on the clutch pedal a couple of times this should help get the fluid down to the slave cylinder, I know this sounds crazy but i have had to do it on a couple of different vehicles to get it to bleed out.

you can use dot 3 brake fluid from you local parts store, im using it in my 99 sunfire, but just ask them and they'll reommend there product.
As I see it the clutch and brakes work very similar to one another.

Brake fluid is the same fluid you put in the clutch master cylinder. Any mechanic will verify this.
