Yeah.......nope. those lines make an immediate 180 back down, the only logical spot is against the firewall, but we are talking ford. could it have disintegrated into the system maybe?

  • garysterner May 09, 2009

I couldn't find it anywhere so I put the new one in where it is supposed to go, fit like champ, buttoned it up and am drawing the system down as I type. Two things are going to happen, 1) its gonna work, or 2) it will disintegrate before my eyes. Either way, this is the last one of these I attempt. Well worth the initial quote of 8 bills. I will let you know.
    Thanks for the help guys.

01 olds silhoutte orificetube location ive had all lines off between condensor and evap and havent found it does it have expansion valve under dash in ac box

it does not have an orifice tube. It has an expansion vlave. You will find it near the vacuum booster on the firewall. Once the a/c lines are disconnected where they go through the firewall you will be able to replace it.

2008 Cobalt 2.2. Where is the expansion valve located?

At the firewall on the pass side where the a/c lines enter the evaporator core inside the dash. The expansion valve is always located at the evaporator core inlet and outlet tubes.

Changing ac expansion valve on 05chevy trail blazer

Late models do not have an expansion tube as such, I think. Rather you have an orifice tube, usually located in the line where the high side line goes into the evaporator fitting under the hood near the firewall.

How to replace expansion valve in BMW 525i

I think these don't use a traditional expansion valve, but rather an "orifice tube", located in the high pressure line junction near firewall going to evap unit.

A/c expansion valve 2000 chevrolet 1500 p/u

It has an orifice tube not an expansion valve. Follow the high side line from the firewall back to the radiator. There should be a fitting a couple bends back from the firewall. Take apart the line at that fitting and the orifice tube will be inside.

Where is the orifice tube on a 98 Buick LeSabre located?

not exactly sure but using info below you can find it.

Remember the flow for the a/c system is :
1. From the compressor a high pressure (HP) gas goes to the condenser in front of the radiator.
2. From the condenser a HP liquid goes to an expansion device (orifice tube or expansion valve)
3. From expansion device the low pressure gas enters the firewall to the evaporator.
4. From evaporator the low pressure liquid/gas mixture goes through the dryer2_bing.gif back to the compressor suction.

There will be about a 1" nut on the low pressure line between the firewall and the compressor. Remove nut and on the male side use a pair of kneedle nose pliers and remove orifice tube. Note orientation of tube.

Replace tube, reassemble, evacuate air from system, recharge with freon.

Were is the expansion valve for the ac

Follow the line from the accumulator into the firewall and where you see the line coming back out towards the compressor, the expansion valve is inside that cover.
