You have to unbolt the gas tank straps, slide the tank down as far as possible to get your hand on top and unplug the wiring harness and take off he fuel hoses. Then drop the tank the rest of the way out. Clean the top of the tank thoroughly before taking the pump out. You will have to take a screwdriver and hammer and tap the lock ring counter-clockwise to unlock it and then it will le the pump lift out with ease. Make sure to change the sock(filter) in the tank as well. Put back together in reverse order making sure all wiring and hoses go exactly where they came off...You will have a much easier time if the tank is completely empty and a jack will help to hold it in place while you put the straps back up and bolt them in place. Take your time and don't try to force things. It is very hard to get into just the right place to get both straps to go where they belong

Is the fuel pump on a 1989 GSR galant servicable? this one seems blocked.

This fuel punp is not removed by dropping the take like so many. It is under an access panel under the rear seat. To change the fuel pump follow these instructions.
1. Determine which fuel pump your Mitsubishi Galant will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size.

2. Prepare your car for service to the fuel pump. Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Take out the rear seat cushion. You will need to pull the seat stopper out and lift up the lower cushion. You can now remove the access cover.
3. Unplug the fuel pump's electrical connection and disconnect the fuel send and return hose. Remove the retaining cap for the fuel pump with tool MB991480 and remove the fuel pump.
4. Install the packing material on the fuel tank. Replace it if the packing material is damaged or deformed. Install the new fuel pump and align the marks on the floor pan and fuel pump.

5.
Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedure.

This should take care of you. Let me know if this helped you.

Hi mate, i got problem, i got honda accord vtec 2001 a/c, so where is fuel filter, and how its looks, cant find, cant see.. i dont understand from that car enything, i know that is fuel filter, becase car...

Fuel Filter Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Remove fuel tank.
  2. Remove fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
  3. Remove fuel filter from fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
To Install:
  1. Install fuel filter to fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
  2. Install fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit.
  3. Install fuel tank.
---
However, I would look at ignition or tune up issues rather than simply a fuel filter.

Find out what the engine problem is by having the engine's computer scanned through the OBD-II port.

I need to change my fuel filter in my 98 Dodge Intrepid. I know I need to drop the gas tank, but I'll be honest I've never did this before. I would like to have pictures to see what it looks like.

300M, Concorde, Intrepid, LHS, 1998-2004 - Fuel Filter Removal & Installation The fuel filter mounts to the frame rail in front of the fuel tank. The inlet and outlet ends of the filter are marked for installation purposes. Install the fuel filter making certain that it is properly orientated.

NOTE The fuel filter is part of the fuel pressure regulator mounted on the fuel pump module.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Lower the fuel tank.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cable Purge and vent lines Fuel line from the pressure regulator Filter/regulator by pushing in the locking tab, turning the regulator to unlock it and pulling the it straight up
To install:

Fig. Cut away view of the fuel filter/pressure regulator
  1. Push the fuel filter/regulator into the fuel pump module and turn to lock it into position.
  2. Connect the fuel lines and install the tank.
  3. Start the engine, check for leaks and repair if necessary.

Fuel Pump - Removal & Installation
The in-tank fuel pump module contains the fuel pump and pressure regulator which adjusts fuel system pressure. Fuel pump voltage is supplied through the fuel pump relay.

The fuel pump is serviced as part of the fuel pump module. The fuel pump module is installed in the top of the fuel tank and contains the electric fuel pump, fuel pump reservoir, inlet strainer fuel gauge sending unit, fuel supply and return line connections and the pressure regulator. The inlet strainer, fuel pressure regulator and level sensor are the only serviceable items. If the fuel pump requires service, replace the fuel pump module.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    Negative battery cable Fuel tank
  4. Clean the top of the tank to remove any loose dirt.
Fuel lines from the fuel pump module by squeezing the quick-connect fitting with thumb and forefinger

Fuel pump module electrical connector from the top of the fuel pump module
  5. Using special tool 6856, remove the fuel pump locknut by turning it counterclockwise.
CAUTION The fuel reservoir of the fuel pump module does not empty out when the tank is drained. The fuel in the reservoir may spill out when the module is removed.
  6. Remove the fuel pump and O-ring from the tank and discard the O-ring.
To install:
  1. Thoroughly clean all parts. Wipe the seal area of the tank clean. Place a new O-ring on the ledge between the tank threads and the pump module opening.
  2. Position the fuel pump module in the tank. Be sure the alignment tab on the underside of the pump module flange sits in the corresponding notch in the fuel tank.
  3. While holding the fuel pump module in place install the locking ring and torque to 40 inch lbs. (5 Nm) using special tool 6856 or a spanner-type tool.
  4. Install or connect the following:
Fuel tank Fuel pump module electrical connector Negative battery cable
  5. Fill the fuel tank with fuel. Install the fuel filler cap. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position to pressurize the system. Check the fuel system for leaks.
Hope this helped.

Fuel System > Gasoline Fuel Injection System > Fuel Pump > Removal & Installation Removal & Installation
CAUTION The fuel injection system remains under pressure, even after the engine has been turned OFF. The fuel system pressure must be relieved before disconnecting any fuel lines. Failure to do so may result in fire and/or personal injury.
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure using the recommended procedure.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the fuel tank, then remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
  4. While holding the modular fuel sender assembly down, remove the snap-ring from the designated slots located on the retainer.

WARNING The modular fuel sender assembly may spring up from its position. When removing the modular fuel sender from the tank, be aware that the reservoir bucket is full of fuel. It must be tipped slightly during removal to avoid damage to the float.
  1. Remove the external fuel strainer.
  2. Detach the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) piece from the electrical connector and detach the fuel pump electrical connector.
  3. Gently release the tabs on the sides of the fuel sender at the cover assembly. Begin by squeezing the sides of the reservoir and releasing the tab opposite the fuel level sensor. Move clockwise to release the second and third tabs in the same manner.
  4. Lift the cover assembly out far enough to detach the fuel pump electrical connection.
  5. Rotate the fuel pump baffle counterclockwise and remove the baffle and pump assembly from the retainer.
  6. Slide the fuel pump outlet out of slot, then remove the fuel pump outlet seal.
To install:
  1. Install the fuel pump outlet seal, then slide the fuel pump outlet in the slots of reservoir cover.
  2. Install the fuel pump and baffle assembly onto the reservoir retainer and rotate clockwise until seated.
  3. Install the lower retainer assembly partially into the reservoir. Line up all 3 sleeve tabs. Press the retainer onto the reservoir making sure all 3 tabs are firmly seated.
Gently pull on the fuel pump reservoir from retainer to assure a secure fastening. If not secure, replace the entire fuel sender.
  1. Attach the fuel pump connector.
  2. Fasten the CPA connector to the fuel sender cover.
  3. Install a new external fuel strainer.
  4. Install the modular fuel sender.
  5. Install the fuel tank in the vehicle.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Pressurize the fuel system and verify no leaks.
