Don't know about 999 but the flashing light could be misfire, a clogged cat, cracked head. Take it and get the codes off of it. Last time I saw this on a dodge it was a cracked cylinder head#5 I believe.

Engine codes for a 97 model Dodge are usually 3 digit. Is this not an engine code or for an older vehicle ?

having trouble removing a motor mount on a 97 dodge grand caravan SE mount located underneath the cage where the battery normally sits any suggestions on getting that off?

Check for a leak at the intake manifold you can use some soap in a spray bottle spray along the intake and heads it will change the idle if its leaking

If it runs fine on starting fluid, then it points to a fuel pump or circuit being bad.

I would check your spark plugs before I do much else. It could also be a coil pack or plug and wire, depending on which one you have.

Hi, I have a 97 Dodge Caravan 3.0L, It did the same thing, would run for a little while then die on me going down the road. I had it checked out and they couldn't find out what was causing it to die. Finally a neighbor who is a mechanic checked it out and found that the speed censor on the transmission was going out and I had to replace the map censor. Two weeks later the timing belt broke. My advice is to have a mechanic check your timing belt and the two censors. My mechanic used a code machine hooked up to my dash. If your sort on cash, this might help.
