Question about 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Why does ny 1995 monte carlo after sitting 2 or more hours, takes several tries to start with engine turning over very fast, then after starting tries to die, and sometimes backfires?
Sounds like the fuel is draining back towards the fuel tank, which is the reason for extended cranking till fuel reaches injectors. My guess would be the fuel pump in the fuel tank. It contains a REVERSE FLOW VALVE, which SHOULD prevent this. A visible way to check would to place a manual fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail valve. After shutting the engine off note the degree of pressure drop, if any. Hope this helps

I'd suspect a sticking injector--car should have set the check engine light. Read the code(s) to progress further. If the coil pack were a problem, it would not be likely to fix itself. If the codes indicate an injector problem, try an injector cleaner in the fuel--worst case, replace the bad injector. The codes should indicate which cylinder to change the injector.
