Could be a weak connection between the battery and starter, or the clutch safety switch. You would need to know how far power is getting in the starter circuit to figure it out.

Starter just clicking

It clicks repeatedly while holding the key in Start, or just clicks once?
Sounds like the solenoid for the starter is kicking in, hence the click noise, but the starter itself is either stuck or dead.

I have a 1987 dodge raider 2.6 that won't start battery good starter good. Only getting 6 volts power to starter when key turned lights work buzzer ect....please help this is my teenage sons truck and he...

If you are only getting 6 volts from the battery to the starter it is only 1 of two things. The wire going from the battery to the starter is damaged or corroded and has to be replaced. Or the battery is no good. The battery may have 12 volts when you attach a voltmeter. Red on Red , Black on Black and this will make you think this battery is good as most people would. But when you apply a load to the battery the voltage may drop to the 6 volts therefor the starter when activated is now only receiving 6 volts which is not enough to start the engine. Have your battery loadtested and I will bet that this is the culprate

When turning key, it just clicks. I have dome light and buzzer when turning key.Just bought it and wires have been tampered with. It is a box truck

check the battery connections, make sure they are tight. if the battery is more than 28 months old, replace it with a MT-65 group size battery. check the starter solenoid next to the battery also...10 dollar part that can cause alot of frustration....

Want start.Battery new, starter, alternator and cables checked.Fuses checked. When key is turned lights on dash work and door buzzer works and when you try to start all I hear is a click under the left corner...

You say the battery is new and that the rest checked but wasn't replaced. Seems like your either not getting enough voltage to the starter or the starter solenoid has failed, in which case, you'll have to replace the starter.
Check the ground strap too. Thats a ground connection that goes from the engine block to the frame of the car. You also say you checked all the cables, but did you replace them? Cables can be corroded inside the plastic cover and may not be able to carry enough current even though they may look ok from the outside. It takes alot more voltage to kick in the starter motor than it does to light up the dash.

I cannot get my truck started, the battery is brand new. The interior and exterior lights and stereo work. Is it my starter?

If the engine is turning over strong but not starting, the starter is fine, but if it's clicking, the starter solenoid on the starter may be defective, Try tightening the battery cables, the lights can still work even though you don't have a good connection to start the engine.

Pull the battery and have a parts store check it to see if it has a bad cell or two. It is possible that even though you charged it, the battery just won't work for you. Hope that helps.
