you said CAN , i bet you meant CAN'T or CAN NOT. right?
the AUX port is just a line input, analog audio input,
it dont know MP3 .
it only amplies the analog audio found there.
you connect any device, to AUX. push play on the device.
then put car radio in to AUX input mode and play. the audio.
that is all there is to it.
the external device does all the heavy lifting, reading a file, and decoding it (mp3 decode) and then sends raw analog audio out.
the cable is sold and radioshack, or walfart or many other stores,
Target, most MP3 players, come with this cable,
they use mini phone plugs, stereo, type,. (3 contacts)
I’ve been looking for some time at installing an auxiliary audio input device to compliment the x-type audio system and a generic mp3 player. From my searches it looks like the x-type has an unusual laser driven stereo system making aux-in a difficult topic. Also, I'm not a fan of the mp3 to radio transmitters where you tune in your radio to the same frequency as the device - these seem to suffer from poor signal and interference issues. I chose to install a separate amplifier that is located between the stereo and the speakers. The device I chose is named “io_connect” ~£40. http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Audio/iO_Play.htm in addition I bought a SOT lead suitable for this application from ebay ~£10 and a mobile phone cradle and charger ~£8. Here’s what I think is good about this method:- Jaguar stereo remains untouched Easy installation Clear mp3 & SatNav playback SatNav plays over speakers with music continuing also. Can upgrade for Bluetooth connectivity Tidy finish.
That interface most likely is not going to work, because it is not compatible with all the gm radios, don't work good with XM and rear video system,
the problem is the wiring and the software on the interface,
the PIE GM12-AUX v2 works with all the radios in gm vehicles,
radio needs to have a BAND button and CD/AUX
If there is no input on the radio front panel then you don't.In 98 this was not available on most domestic vehicles. You don't really need this feature to play an MP3 player thru your vehicle radio. Here is a cheap solution buy a FM transmitter in Canada it's about $10.00 and play your Mp3 player thru your car audio radio.
I'am an M.B. tech- I do not beleive that this radio is mp3 compatable- iknow that the input you are refering to is used for ipod use. It very well could be that the head unit has to be programed(basically informed0 for an mp3- i would call the service dept. and ask to talk to ther best audio tech savay mechanic. Most likley the service writer wouldn.t know or give you false information because they do not stay on top of all the little tecnical changes. This fiber optic system has many programing features- most have to be done with as sds laptop(dealer software only) good luck
the fast way to connect an mp3 player is to buy an mp3 FM converter. it has this small input hole where you can use the wire included with it and connect it to your headphone of your mp3 player and then listen to it in the FM channel.
If you just want to plug in your MP3 player to the radio open the glove box and you will find an MP3 socket near the latch of the lid. Plug in your player and press the auxilary button on the radio to get the player to work via the radio.
"2009 Toyota Tacoma trucks are fitted with an enhanced standard audio system for 2009, with an AM/FM radio, auxiliary audio input, an MP3-capable CD player and XM Satellite radio capability."
I have an '08 Tacoma, and I bought an aftermarket iPod interface with RCA jacks so I could hook up my iPod and Sirius Satellite Radio.
