When a diesel truck begins to have hard starts in the morning, it is usually due to failing glow plugs. Or a bad GP relay. If they are a few years old, just replace them, but if you want to test them, you will need a multi meter, and test ohms resistance. No greater than 1.5, testing thru the plug. Once engine is warm, and truck starts fine with no problems, then good indication, plugs are failing.
