Question about 1997 BMW 318
A couple weeks ago i came out and started my car with no problem. It ran for about 15 mins with no issues. I turned it off and tried to restart the car immediately all i could hear was the starter making a whining noise. I tried giving it a couple of bangs, but no good, it was still just making the noise.
Yesterday i purchased a new starter and installed it over a two day process. Tried to start the car and nothing, the only sound i could hear was the starter turning. I tried to start the car over and over again, at one point although i dis-engaged the key the starter was still turning. Any ideas? Could this be a ignition issue?
It is possible that you have the two small wires reversed or one is touching battery lead connection.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities.
It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then
it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure
or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty
ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
