Check every battery connection. That's all the cables and connections to starter, alternator, engine block, etc. Have alternator checked it may be failing when it hits that particular RPM
The LW started in 00, if it is a 99 then it is an SW. I would start by replacing the crank sensor which is installed into the rear of the block, behind the starter on the SW. Most likely easier to replace on the LW as they moved the starter to the front of the engine in the 2.2 LW engine. Cheap part.
alternator bad (my guess) or possibly battery your local auto parts store will check for free
though if it was your battery it would stay running after jumper cables were unhooked not die. alternator is your prob
ENGINE GETTING TOO HOT AC PUTS MORE LOAD ON ENGINE AND OUT SIDE TEMPERATURE HOT.YOUR CAR TELLING YOU I AM HOT AND NEED A BREAK.MAKE SURE COOLANT LEVEL NOT LOW AND THE COOLING FANS RUNNING WHEN AC GOING IF NOT CHECK FAN FUSE IF FUSE GOOD.YOUR THERMO SWITCH NOT WORKING OR THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND FAN CONTROL MODULE COULD BE THE PROBLEM IF THE FANS DONT TURN ON.
Try disconnecting the alternator for a few minutes. It can run on just the battery that long. It is possible the new alternator is producing too many spikes that disrupt the car's electronics.
