Question about Mazda 626

2 Answers

I have a 1993 mazda 626 (4cyl) that had been worked on by a local shop, more like shade tree. well after getting auto back i went for a drive and ended up having both the rear light and charging warning lights come on. it seems that the charging and rear lights are working fine. could it be the brain. the place we took the car to didnt seem to smart on that part of the car. would resetting the ecm help and if so how do we do it.

this problem is ontop of the main problem that we had with the auto. it would run for about a week or two and just die. letting it set for a little while it would start on it's own or would jump start. thinking it was a fuel line problem we replaced the fuel filter, then took it to the shop. they said it was the fuel pump and put in a new pump and screen. then they said that there was a problem getting power to the pump and spark to the engine. they tried to replace the ecm and found that the one they got was a bad one. they re installed the old one, did somemore checking and found a relay that was bad. didnt really say where it was. then when i started driving the car again i ended up with the problems i first posted.

I do believe there is a problem with the car computer. I firstly would have it scanned for any error codes and than fix those problems. If problem still exists, you may have to have computer replaced. It also may be voltage regulator has gone bad not letting the correct voltage be sent to rest of car.

No resetting the ecm will not help.its not the prioblem of resetting.in your car in the main control module the wires are got malfunctioned so its behaving like this.or the relay in the control module is got tripped and cracked so its not moving correctly.get this checked at the shop it will help you.
please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keepupdated.thanks.

Locating the rpm sensor on a 1993 mazda two wheel pick-up B2600i 2.6L 4cyl

I suggest you get a Chilton or Haynes Repair manual, if you don't have one already. I have an Odd ball Isuzu & they make a manual for it. Also if you have a good relationship w/ a local Mazda dealer the repair shop might let you take a peek at their factory manual.

Unfortunately this is not a job for someone that has to ask this question! Automatic transmissions are not something a shade tree mechanic should attempt to rebuild!

So your choices are to replace the automatic transmission with a rebuilt or new one or to take it to a transmission shop to have them work on it. I highly do NOT recommend the chain transmission shops like Amco, because they have a habit of telling client they need a complete rebuild when they really only need the belts tightened. Talk to friends and relatives and get recommendations on your local transmission shops and call the Better Business Bureau to check out the recommendations.

I cant find a fuel filler neck for my 1993 mazda 929.does a 1993 mazda 626 fuel filler neck work for a 929?

You should be able to call a body shop and have them order you one. I used to work in my uncles body shop and you can get them. I have been out out of the body shop business about 10 year and don't have books anymore. On this I can not help you. You can e-mail Mazda, and they may be able to tell you. Try your friendly body shop, they can get it for you. hope this helps

They could be right. If possible, get an trouble code. That will tell you which sensor is the problem. it could be other sensors too.

How much would it cost to replace the bumper?

That would depend on how much you spend on the bumper and where the work gets done. You could buy a new bumper at a dealer, expensive; or look around on ebay, craigslist, or local salvage yards and get a used one cheap. You could do the work yourself for free, or hire a shop to put it on. A body shop would most likely be much cheaper than a dealer for labor, a local shade tree mechanic would be much cheaper than a body shop.
