The fastest way is to go to napa, o'reillys, or auto zone and you can purchase a manual for around 20 bucks. this will give you all the right info, diagrams, etc to help you with this. plus it also as all the info you need to do other repairs as well and is a good investmant

i don't believe that was neccessary to give me the rating you did. all the instructions will be in that manual. often times it's quite difficult to expalin everything you need to do over a computer. it is far easier for you to be able to look at the manual and see from the diagrams for your self. some times there are unforeseen problems and if i'm not actually working on the vehicle it would be hard for me to explain to you how to overcome them without being hands on. the manual is a good way to give you precisely the knowledge you need. i would appreciate if you would change it.

What is the proper and safest way to re-install a front suspension coil spring?

There are coil compressors sold in auto parts stores, usually a set of three clamps. Be EXTREMELY careful to follow instructions, as a compressed spring has as much stored energy as a shotgun shell and can take a hand off or even kill if the clamps slip.

Front air suspension not working

Or for under $400 you can buy a coil spring conversion kit from a company like
Arnott. Look for coil spring conversion kit exclusively designed for the Lincoln Mark VIII. The kit converts the entire vehicle to a reliable coil spring/strut suspension system. Also look for a kit the required no special tools and comes with detailed installation instructions.

Does a 1965 mustang have a suspension overload spring

Not exactly. The Mustang of that series had leaf springs and "overload" springs were usually a set with an extra leaf or two. Overload shocks were shock absorbers with an additional coil spring.
I don't think you could special order overload springs since the car was not designed to haul any extra weight like a truck or station wagon.

Suspension The independent front suspension (IFS) system is composed of a two-piece front driving axle, two front coil springs (5310) and two radius arms. The front driving axle consists of two independent axle arms. One end of each axle arm is anchored to the frame (5005). The other end of each axle arm is supported by the front coil springs and radius arm.

Okay....here is the steps first....and then the directions on how to use the tools:

  1. Raise and properly support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Detach the shock absorber lower mount by removing the two bolts.
  4. Remove the retainer nut, retainer, cushion and shock absorber.
  5. Detach the cushion retainer from the shock absorber.
  6. Compress the coil spring with a commercially available spring compressor.
  7. Detach the stabilizer bar.
  8. Support the upper suspension arm and steering knuckle securely.
  9. Remove the cotter pin.
  10. Loosen and remove the nut.
  11. Using a ball joint removal tool, detach the lower ball joint from the lower control arm.
  12. Loosen the suspension arm set bolt.
  13. Remove the suspension arm set bolt nut.
  14. Remove the nut from the strut bar front set bolt.
  15. Pull out both set bolts.
  16. Remove the lower suspension arm and coil spring. To install:
