Question about 1989 Chevrolet G20

2 Answers

I have a 1989 Chevy 20 van with a 5.0. It starts fine, but dies right away. You have to keep pumping gas to keep it going. Could this be the fuel regulator,or maybe the diaphram? I have 1990 G20 Chevy Van with an 8 cylindar engine. Little more than a week ago it would not start one morning. Had the fuel pump changed it would start then but would not stay started. Since then changed the distributer cap and idle coil (?) still have the same problem. Any ideas?

When i try to start my 98 chevy venture minivan it turns over for about 20 sec then dies unless i pump the gas when i turn it over. what are all the possibilities of what could be causing this to happ

Turning over is engine cranking, not running. I'm not sure I understood your post?
Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, 3.4L engine, 41--47 psi.
Any applicable trouble codes? To check codes yourself, at the least you need an obd2 code reader.
I'd want to check if system is running rich or lean?

1989 chevy van won't run.

Check the air filter (may be very dirty), carburetor may need thorough cleaning, or, if fuel-injected, the injectors may need cleaning. The fuel pump may also be malfunctioning....remove the outlet hose from the pump, place another hose onto the pump and drain it into a container so you don't lose the gas, and have a friend crank over the engine while you watch to see if gas spurts out quickly and abundantly into the container. IF NOT, then you will have to fix the fuel pump, or replace it.

1989 dodge d150. truck will run fine for about 15 minutes then dies. I changed the fuel filter and it still dies. both injectors seem to be pumping fuel. so any ideas.

If you are sure right after the engine dies you have fuel I would think it was the coil going bad see if yiou have spark right after it dies. If you have spark squirt gas into the throuttle body and see if it starts
