Question about 2005 Saturn ION

1 Answer

Car wont start.

I was recently rear ended. The only damage done was a broken tail light but my 2005 saturn ion wont start. I have heard that there is an inertia swich or a fuel punp shutoff swich although I do not know the location of the switch. Please help if you can.

Sorry the saturn's do not have a inertia switch. But more information would help. Like does the security light activate on the dash, you may have a bad Passlock, Place the ignition key to the on possition for 10 min and then try starting it.
Good luck and let me know how things are going. There should be instructions in your manual on how to get the car started if the Passlock is giving you problem.

fuses are easy!

if you cant find the fuse you will need to check them all sadly..

but its quite easy. just look at one you will see a filament (thin wire) connecting the two points. in a blown fuse this wire will be burnt out or broken. You will see it trust me. simply pull them out one at a time and replace it before pulling out another.

there are 2 compartmentswith the fuses. one is under the hood and the other is eighter under the dash or to the side of it inside the car.

I have a Saturn Ion 2006 - twice in 10 days the car won't start, the dash lights work and the radio too - but the engine doesn't even try to turn over...Saturn of Spokane has told me the car alarm needs...

Even if the battery is low or has weak connections, there is enough power for accessories but not enough to turn the motor over. A bad solenoid will also cause this

I am not a mechanic and have had no problems with my 2005 Ion-2 but at msn/autos I see that these can exhibit a starting problem because of the ignition switch which they recommend replacing. The part is around $40 & the labor is 1 hr.

Probably something shorting out. This is something that probably isn't going to be easy to figure out. You need someone that can diagnose it in person
