If the air filter has deteriorated then parts of it would be in the intake of the engine and will need to be removed. parts will get stuck every were have been known to block up the intake line into the cylinders.

SOURCE: cabin air filter, location

It's located on the engine compartment firewall, passenger-side. Open the hood, stand by the right front wheel and you'll see the fasteners to remove forward of the wipers. Fasteners are removed by pushing the center in, then pulling them out. To replace. pull the center out, replace it, then push it flush to lock.

Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: my 2004 lincoln ls air conditioner is blowing hot

Your issues can not be answered easily or definitively, as the LS is very complex and all electronic.
I would need the stored codes, that set the check light (MIL Light)
You can cycle the right dash display to ACFilter and Reset, with the top row of buttons,in center of dash. There is no sensor on the Cabin Filter. All the dash displays, are just reminders, you can set any way you want, % wise.

Possible issues--Fuses
-- Coolant control valve
--DATC module

You will need a really good Technician, not a general mechanic, to diagnose your problem
You need to put a professional scanner on it, to start any diagnostic work

What's your problem? my 2004 mercury monterey has eight codes ,po301,poo53,po106,po316,po300,po304,po305,and po306

PO 300 is multiple misfires detected
PO 301, 304, 305, 306 are misfires in cylinders 1,4,5,&6
PO 053 is HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 1 Heater Resistance
PO 106 is MAP/BARO CKT Range / Perf
PO 316 is Misfire detected 1st 1000 Revs.

On a misfire, I usually push towards the spark plugs, plug wires, and coil packs / distributor coil.
You have PO 106 and PO 053 that need to be inquired about at nearest AutoZone.
They can give you an idea as to what is the problem on these.

Did a MAP sensor **** out and cause all the misfires ?
Did a misfire cause the MAP sensor error?
You see what I'm saying ?...Something caused all the misfires...thinking MAP...but not that familiar with the function of the MAP.

Hope this helps...

My 2001 Lincoln LS V8 3.9 seems to have a slight miss when in overdrive about 1700 rpm's on an upgrade..you give i. t gas and it bucks and a slight miss. Have changed one coil pack, new spark plugs, new...

When you changed spark plugs did you notice any oil on the insulator or wire plug? Or any oil in the hole that the spark plugs are in? This model of LS were built with gaskets that seem to always fail. Lincoln came out with new gaskets in 2002 or 2003. If there was any oil in the above mentioned places your coils (COP Coil on plug) could be shorting out due to the oil degrading the insulator on the cops. The fix for this is to replace the valve cover gasket set with the upgraded set. Also it's almost impossible to find which coil is bad, and I recommend replacing all eight of the COPS. You can find them online pretty reasonable. I have used these and they seem to perform as good as the Dealer parts, but at a fraction of the cost. This solved the problem on my 2001 LS V8. Also these cars are known to have problems with the timing chains, which could also cause your problem. The adjuster shoes that keep the timing chain tight are plastic and wear out and come loose. Some times causing the engine to jump time and in the worst case could allow the pistons and the valves to come in contact. That will destroy the engine.

2004 lincoln nav...shaking..trying to cut off...mech said 3 plugs and wires need oto be changed...can I do this or should I do A complete tune up?

There haven't been Tune-Ups,in the last 30 years,on vehicles that are all electronic
You have COP, Coil-On-Plug Ignition System,no plug wires
Spark plugs and Air Filter and other electronic cleaning, is called preventative maintainance, and as I said, that way for decades.

If you have Codes PO-301 thru PO-308,you may have a bad coil or two. I doubt you have three bad.
Their $59.00 at the auto parts store. Install them yourself

The only tuning that is done,is by the PCM (computer),not a repair shop mechanic

Also, scan the Throttle Position Sensor, they fail. You can get that at the store also, and don't need a dealer to sell you the entire throttle body for $700.00.

Clean the MAF Sensor ,with CRC MAF Cleaner

Expect the EGR Valve to fail.

Change your trans fluid, flush your power steering fluid and brake fluid every couple years.

2004 LS: 2004 LINCOLN NAV...SHAKING..TRYING TO CUT OFF...ME...

You don't have wires,you have COP-Coil-On-Plug system.
If you have the codes, you could change the coils yourself.Their $59.00 at the auto parts store.

There is a misconception about tune-ups.
You only have spark plugs, and air filter, that would need replacing, that effect engine performance (Tune-Up)
Also, you can Clean the MAF Sensor,in the ducting, between the air filter and throttle body, with CRC MAF Cleaner. You could spray the inlet to the throttle
body,but I wouldn't bother.
I consider plugs& filters ,general preventative maintainance, nothing really tunes the engine, but it's own processors.

If you remove the coil cover, on top of the valve cover, you access the coils.Have to remove the coils to get to the plugs. The plugs aren't your issue, unless they have been in the engine for years or the valve cover O"Rings are leaking oil onto the plugs. Three coils seems questionable.

Get me the codes!

I have trouble codes p0430, p0301,p0316, p2195 and p2197. thecar is a 2004 lincoln ls 3.0 v6 with 116000 miles. can anyone help me solve my problem?

PO-430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
PO-0301 Should be a misfire on COP Coil #1
PO-316 Misfire Occured in the First 1000 Engine Revolutions
P-2195 Lack of HO2-11 Switch/Lean
P2197 Lack of HO2-21

I have the same vehicle,only a V8
What you have is a very common ford problem. The Ignition Coil on Cylinder #1 is Bad. You can buy it at the local auto part store and change yourself. About $59.00. You remove the coil cover on top of the valve covers, then the coil. I did one in Feb and believe all you need is a 7mm wrench and 7mm socket. #1 should be at the front of engine/pass side.

The other codes are related and you can see if any are there, after you do the coil replacement. If so give them to me.
