Your A/C may be low on R134, you can pick up a A/C recharge kit at Wal-Mart or Auto Zone for around $45.00 or less depending on which one you get and recharge the system you self. Do not over charge the system,  just follow the instructions.
I believe your Grand Am takes 12 ounces of R134 so you only need one can but by two so when your A/C is low again you can recharge it again. You must have a small leak some where in the system and you can pick up a Recharge can too with stop leak.
If you need help, go to Auto Zone or Parts Source and the parts person there should be able to help you out, but try recharging the system first with the R134 with stop leak 12 ounce can.
Good luck and hope this helps.

My yaris 2007 car ac stopped working before 2 months slowly , means sometimes work and some times doesnt work , and not at all . before 2 weeks i showed 2 car ac tachnicians both told to change control...

The best I can tell u is that the smell is from a leak at the evaporator or connections. I advise to get another opinion because it sounds like a lot of guesswork. if u get the work done, make sure the work comes with a warrantee! I gave all my customers warrantees for 20 years. That's part of the diagnostic business! Good Luck If u don't get a warrantee ,don't get the diagnosis or work done

I was told by A/C guy I have a short somewhere to the high pressure switch. something is not kicking on the compressor. another mechanic said I need a new computer. what do you think

go with the ac guy
there are systems that prevent the ac compressor working
high pressure switch which cuts the ac clutch if the head pressure goes too high
low pressure switch which cuts power to the ac compressor if there
is no gas in the system
climate control systems which cut power when the ac is not required
fuses to the ac system
get a better explanation or seek advice from other ac mechanics

A/c doesn't blow cool air. it stopped suddenly along with the speedometer. mechanic looked at it and said he changed out a relay and all should be fine. speedometer works but a/c still doesn't. mechanic...

There may be two relays with the AC circuits. One will control the AC cooling fan on the radiator. The other will control the AC compressor, to turn it on when requested. Any relays that aren't in the AC circuit would have no affect, whether good or bad. And relays just do not go bad that often.
You need somebody to check out the AC circuit, somebody willing to do a little testing.

I have a chrysler concorde 2001 and my ac all it does is blow hot air out and it has freon in it but my ac does not work. What can be wrong with it?

A mechanic would check the circuit to the ac clutch for power.
It could be the ac clutch on the compressor, a low or high pressure switch, or a relay.

My AC stopped working and my dash board coolant reader is all dashes. What does this mean?

Sounds like a fuse has blown. Check you fuse box for the ac fuse/ or look for one that says gauges, make sure its not blown.

A/c unit blows hot air all the time

Most likely problem is lack of refrigerant in the AC system. AC compressors need a minimum amount of refrigerant to function. If your system has a small leak, you may have insufficient refrigerant. Have your system recharged (most garages will do it for under $100) to get your AC working again. Best of luck.

Speedometer reads upto 120 mph sitting still with ac on high

yo, i finally figured out the speedo jumping problem. i took my towncar to a shop and they told me it needed a new instrument cluster, they replaced that and still the same problem. they narrowed it down to some bunk diodes or something in the alternator. replaced the alternator at Schumacher Goodyear and the price was 275. had all the speed sensors checked and they were fine as well. also this website is very helpful for do it urselfers.
