Providing scratch isnt too deep you can buy a cutting compound from local factors and polish out. If a little too deep for this you can take back with a super fine wet and dry paper of around p1500 grade with plenty of soapy water first and then compound out but be careful not rub through to primer so very much a game of patience and compromise. If scratch is deep follow same instructions but day or so before touch in scratch to fill the scratch with paint and then carefully compound outer excess touchup so you simply leave paint in scratch.

This is very good advice; I tried this on my 1990 Mercury Cougar Bostonian. Last year here in Chicago there was a monster winter storm and I had to use a soft bristle broom to get the snow off and that left some scratch's on my trunk. :( Thanks for posting!

SOURCE: 760 sedan scratch

It depends on how deep the scratch is. If it's shallow and only into the clear coat, it can generally be buffed out with compound and you'll never see it. If it's deep to the touch and goes into the paint to where you can see metal or undercoating the you will have to have it sanded down, smoothed out and repainted.

SOURCE: my 94 mazda 323s heater doesnt work

Thanks for a reply. Finally it appeared that the problem lays in the alternator, not in the heater. Nevertheless, as I mentioned before heater was not working and that deluded me somehow. After replacing an alternator everything came back to normal. By the way, I replaced both belts (alternator and wedge belt).

SOURCE: I own Mazda3 and a remote key I recently purchesed

you need two keys to enter program mode for key programming and remote programming. Do you have two working keys now?? if not then you need to see dealer to program them, they need scanner to program if two keys are not present.

SOURCE: My automatic seat belts stopped working.

Breakers Yard is your best bet

It is a wear and tear factor on the belts and messing with them can only lead to problems with safety and testing

It is possible to protect the car from getting damaged by dents and scratches?

You can install body side moldings onto your car to protect your car from dents and scratches. Body side moldings help to prevent your car against paint scratches, door dings, and door dents. It's a plastic molding that is designed to coordinate the color of the vehicle. Instead of hitting the door, the molding acts as a wall to shield from directly hitting and destroying the body of the vehicle. For more info visit https://gocarcraft.com/repair-services/

2005 Lexus RX330. Brushed the side of door against a pillar resulting in white scratch marks. How do I get rid of these scratches short of taking to body shop.

I'm assuming the pillar is white and therefore transferred the paint onto your car. I've fixed this issue before with my Mothers RX350.

Clean any dirt from the area. Take a mild rubbing compound and rub in the direction of the scratch marks. It's a bit labor intensive, but after a few minutes you should see some improvement. If the scratch marks disappear, follow up with a polish wax to get rid of any mild scratches from the rubbing compound.
If the pillar actually removed paint from your vehicle, the best bet is to take your car into a body shop to get an estimate on repairs.

Scratch on car paint.

It sounds like it hasn't scratched through to the metal yet so you could:

1) Respray the whole panel to remove all unsightliness.2) Touch up the scratch, resulting in quite an ugly repaint.

I have a gmc acadia and the rear bumper on it is filled with scratches, what is the best repai solution without changing the bumper

body shop estimate on paint and body filler and most important flex additive in the paint Best repair then there are the do it yourself kits of body repair and activator combination for the filling of the scratches but then your skills/ knowledge of body repair are needed for the repaint. Preperation below is key to the look above. all flaws seen in the primer and the sealer which can be seen show up many times worse with the shiny paint.

I need to remove headlights on 96 ford festiva to clean them for a road worthy?? Any help would be appreciated

I've used restore kits without removing the lamps. If you are worried about scratching the bumper or fender, use some duct tape to mask off the area and you won't put scratches on anything.

Home repair of scratches on car door

if the scratch is very shallow, you may be able to rub them off using rubbing compound. otherwise, you will have to match the color of the color and use spray paint to fix the scratch. This is assuming that the car does not have a clear coat. if it does, then I recommend you take it to a body shop.

Car continues to misfire. Replaced spark plugs, wires, coils, module, fuel pressure regulator, and injectors. What else is left to do, without spending more money!!!!!!!

Guessing is the way to spend the most amount of money. After spending a lot of money guessing, most people dont want to spend money fixing the real problem, which in all cases, cost less than what they have spent. A shop will need to take it from here, First is to narrow down which cylinder is misfiring then go from there, Check fuel trims, compression, Vac leak, signal from the injector to the ecm. The injector is hot and the ecm grounds it. You dont say which engine you have, but the 2.4L have had a lot of coil housings go bad.

Removeing scrathes from metal

Depends how big the scratches are.

some will buff out buy using a good car wax and polishing the scratches out. As long as the scrathes have not gone through the paint down to the metal it will work. If you get some "Tar gone" its and abrasive for getting tar off paint that can some times be a little abbrasive and can get the scratch rubbed out prior to going over the top of that area again after with a good high quality car polish (one you apply by hand with a cloth and rub to a shine - not one you tip in a bucket of water and wash the car with).

If the scratches a really large like wide than a human hair, or if the metal is dented, then the buffing is not going to work and if you can't live with it you may want to consider respray via a car body shop. you can do it your self with a spray can but cars today have a clear top coat for a start that will mean respraying your self will look bad and thats if you can even get the color matched exactly, so if its bad and buffing wont work go see a body shop for a quote.
