SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Stratus Transmission Problem

COULD BE LOSS OF ALL TRASMISSION FLUID, BROKEN HOSE, BLOWN PUMP,BURNT TRANSMISSION RINGS( HOW DID THE TRANNY OIL SMELL?) BURNT TRANNY FLUID OR A COMBINATION OF ANY OF THE ABOVE. IF IT JUST QUIT, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT WILL REQUIRE A REBUILD OR A SALVAGE TRANSMISSION FROM A LOCAL WRECKING YARD. THE LATTER BEING THE CHEAPEST AND AT TIMES THE BETTER DEAL ALL AROUND, TIME WISE AND MONEY. VERSUS A REBUILD THAT REQUIRES NEW PARTS, BANDS, PUMP, SEALS AND ON AND ON PLUS HOURS OF LABOR TO FIX EQUALS ONE BIG BIG BILL!BEING A 2001 A TRANNY FROM A WRECKING YARD ISN'T GOING TO HAVE THAT MANY MILES ON IT EITHER SO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND SOME PRETTY DECENT ONES. THAT'S THE ROUTE I'D GO, BUT YOU'RE FREE TO CHOOSE EITHER CHOICE. I DON'T ENDORSE OR CONDEMN EITHER ONE, JUST POINT OUT THE GOOG AND THE WEAK IN EACH FOR YOU TO DECIDE! GOOD LUCK! I have 2006 dodge charger 3.5 sxt the transmission some times wont shift to any gear whil iam driving and after few secondes it works fine why is that?

This likely caused by either a poor connection in the wiring harness to the transmission (this trans is shifted by a computer) or a defective Transmission Control Module.

I have a 2006 dodge charger SXT in which I recently purchased about a year ago. Just a few days ago I experienced that my car does not want to move forward of backwards? My shfter is NOT locked and my car...

t is most likely a faulty torque converter clutch servo/ solenoid
wiring and unit is suspect
while it may look that the pan cannot be removed to change the oil there is a way to do it
if you find a dealer too expensive find an accredited service center or specialist transmission shop and get quotes
the transmission will be generic as car manufacturers do not make their own transmissions but use ones built to their engineering requirements
If it appears sealed , then an accredited shop has the equipment to replace the oil by pumping in and pumping out the oil

06 dodge charger rt w 5.7 hemi engine has clunk in front end

The LX platform consists of the 300, charger and magnum.

They will all have front end noise. It's just a matter of time. This appears to be a poor design and should be recalled.

The front end should be replaced with energy suspension bushings and greasable ball joints.

The front end needs to be inspected, but here are the usual suspects. Most to least

1. Stabilizer bushings to frame. Rattle and bump sound. Not too expensive.
2. Tension struts - radius arm as some may say. Makes a poping noise and moans when driving and turning.
3. Stabilizer end links if loose to touch. Noise over bumps only.
4. Tie rods. Primarily outer. If you can turn them by hand they need changing. These make noise when braking and turning. Inner is more pronounced when steering. May cause road wander.
5. Upper and lower control arm bushings. Creak!
6. Ball Joints. These sound like an orchestra when going up a driveway. The most expensive fix on these cars. Up to 1800.00 dealer cost. They do not press out the old joints. They use a new knuckle.
7. Steering rack... another expensive fix. Moans and hisses.

Engine light came on, doesn't up-shift

The transmission is in limp in mode. The check engine light is on because the transmission controller told the engine controller to turn it on. You will have to get the fault codes checked to diagnose the problem. Expect to find a P0700 code in the engine controller. Thats the code for a transmission fault in the trans controller. It could be as simple as an input speed sensor or as complexed as an internal failure. Either way have the transmission fault codes checked for a proper diagnosis.
