Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Yesterday I jet washed under the engine near the front drivers side wheel of my 2006 1.6 Petrol ford focus and my ABS warning light came on once I started up! I was told it would be water in the electrical connector/sensor and that it would dry out so I disconnected it all day to let the water drip out then reconnected to find the ABS light vanished once I started to drive. Unlucky for me though when I hit the motorway at 60MPH it came back on and now won't go off! Any ideas?

It's wet again, never use a water hose to clean engine, get bucket of warm water, and some degreaser and a rag and wipe, then wipe again with wet rag.

Tut tut ,this focus has shimmed tappets not hydraulic so forget that ,now theoil leak is another thing and i suspect a oil seal on the front pulley RHD vehicle if drivers side ,as for the ABS its got water into a electrical connection and should be ok once it dries out .If a leak on a LHD vehicle drivers side then maybe a rear end oil seal ,now stop wasting money on bits you do not need but ask a local mechanic to have a look for you and some proper advice.

Can anyone tell me why the ABS light comes on when I reach 70mph in my 2006 Ford Focus Zetec but disappears once I restart my engine? And would it be anything to do with recently having the passenger...

A dirty or clogged ABS wheel sensor located on the same wheel as bearing replaced. This can be confirmed with a diagnostics check...try a small shop to save money before the dealer for this...Maybe under $100. to replace including the diagnostic...Hope this helps.

03 Ford Expedition Front Drivers side brakes remain engaged

If the caliper is not defective, it could be the rubber flex hose going to the caliper.

The ABS light is on and off. when it is on it will make a feeling of the front tires rolling under the car then the light will come on. you feel it in the peddle also with movement toward the floor while...

sounds like you have a abs sensor failing to read a signal on one wheel , car thinks that the wheel has locked up and as you press the brake it cuts the abs in and tries to release the brakes which is the noise your hearing and poss pulling to one side as you brake untill computer recognises a fault and shuts down the abs system which is when the abs light comes on, this pulling may indicate which one is faulty, it will need a abs sensor or signal ring on the drive shaft, usually a front one ! a damaged wheel bearing can cause an interupted signal to that sensor, failing that your abs pump is faulty, hopefully not the pump as this is very expensive

The Abslight came on with the handbrake light while driving and the speedometer went off. The handbrake light is now off but the abs light is still on.thanks,

It would appear that you have either lost a main chassis ground to the firewall or to your instrument cluster. If your brakes don't feel any different than this is most likely the cause of your problem. To find where the ground loss is, all you've got to do is wiggle wires under your dash near the rear of the instrument panel and under the hood near the firewall. Have someone watching the warning lights during the process and they can inform you of any changes. Thank you, Dana

Where is the fuse box in a 2006 ford focus

If you have a 6-cd changer, MOST of the fuses are behind the CD holder, to the left of and lower than the steering wheel. Pull out the CD holder, and the fuses are behind it. There are some more fuses in the engine bay. If I remember right, they're near the driver's side firewall.

2007 Chevrolet Uplander LT ABS and TC light on

We were having this problem...have your wheel bearing checked out. There was a sensor in the drivers side wheel bearing...once we replaced it (because it was going out) the ABS and Traction Control warning lights stopped coming on.
