SOURCE: hilux ln130 wont start with key but will crash start

if it is automatic transmission try to start it in neutral, and see what happend, but if it come whit manual transmision, then check the cluth switch, you can by pass the switch and try to start it, if it works then replace the sw, but if not the look to see if there is a starter relay and replace it, most of this come wiht starter relay and they fail.

SOURCE: wont start

There's only 2 more things that I can think of, check the fuse for the ignition, then the computor itself, you did everything else.It might be the problem and may not.

SOURCE: Starter wiring messed up need help

there should be a large battery cable red going to the large terminal of the solenoid, another thin wire going to the flat blade connector which should go to the starter switch, The way to test the wires to find out which one is the ignition switch wire is to get someone to sit in the car and turn the ignition key as if to start it and you can use a simple test light to see which one goes on and off as the ignition switch is turned on and off.
There should be another wire that connects to the same terminal as the battery cable which goes to the altenator, about twice the size as the small wire is. If there are any more wires I am not sure where they will go to.
Hope that works for you

Check all connections and cables for corrosion. Make sure there is a good engine to chassis ground. You are loosing connection somewhere.

How do I Disable anti theft system in 2002 Chevy Venture that wont start

Check the wires good, that go to starter. And the starter solenoid. Clean and tighten all starter wires. By by passing, and starting it direct tells me that there has to be a problem, in wires or ignition system. see if you have power to starter by testing the wire. Sounds like no click on start=no power to starter.

2000 chev wont start at key

I think the purple wire (or maybe the yellow) from the neutral safety switch goes to the coil side of the starter relay, turning it on so power is sent from there to the starter solenoid. You could check for this signal to the relay with a test light. The key must be held in start while you probe the other two terminals for the relay. If the signal is there, either a bad relay or the coil side of relay is not grounded properly. It is possible that the coil side ground is the neutral safety switch-grounding the relay's coil side only in park or neutral-in which case the nagging light on shifter (between off and run, it only works?) may be telling you the safety switch is the problem.

You may need to look at a wiring diagram, Greg. But the starter relay is the last component in the start circuit before the starter solenoid. From battery to ignition switch to "crank" fuse to neutral safety switch to starter relay to starter solenoid to starter-and back to battery through ground. That is the start circuit. Just that the wiring tying them all together makes it complicated.

Engine wont turn

1. Make sure your battery is fully charged.
2. Check connections from battery to starter relay.
3. Make sure you have voltage going to the start side (small wire) of the relay with the key in the "start" position.
4. If you don't have voltage going to the start side of the relay (small wire) with key in the start positon, then your starter switch is faulty (under dash usually mounted on top of steering column).
5. If you have voltage to the start side of the relay (small wire) with key in start position, and it don't click when trying to start your car, then the starter relay is bad.
6. If your starter relay clicks, but engine don't turn over, then the starter is faulty.

If you think its the starter switch here is a picture of one uninstalled:
it should be on the upper side of steering column, and you must lower it by removing the mounting bolts that are directly under the column and lowering it down.

STARTER WON'T STOP

If its a new starter check and see that the wires are hooked up right, could be time for a new starter, or starter relay on the fender well, or the ignition switch is bad.

I have an 1989 jeep comanche. It had an ignition switch bypass. I took it off and replaced the switch and the relay. If i touch the positive battery cable to the green starter wire on the relay it...

on the relay there will be a small wire that gets power when you turn the key to the start position
find that wire and connect it to the small terminal of the starter solenoid
then if you get it right , when you turn the key to start, power will get to the starter solenoid , energize the solenoid and the starter will engage

Car wont crank

I have a 2000 Olds Intrigue that has the starting problem that some people have spoke about. You turn the key and all lights come on but the car will not start nothing. I 1st replaced the ignition switch which did not correct the problem. To get around the problem I have connected a wire to my starter and ran the wire up to the battery and when the car acts up I take the wire touch the positive pole on the battery post and the starter will turn over. I then get in my car and use the key and start the car. I have not been stranded by the car since. I try the key a few times if nothing happens I'll wait a few minutes and if that does not do it I jump the starter with my wire. This has been working for the last 2 years. It's not a correction but it is a work around.

I have a 1993 F150 the starter went out so i put a new one in and a cylanoid and soon as i touch the postitive wire to the battery the truck wonts to start with no keys in it

obviously the circuit is shorting somehow. there should be a starter relay on the fender near the battery. two large battery wires and a small signal wire. disconnect the signal wire and try re-connecting the + batt cable. if it tries to start i would say you have a faulty starter relay. if it doesn't, then there is a short in the ignition switch/circuit. check your work. make sure everything is like it should be btw, it's [solenoid]
