Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
It doesn't shift like it's supposed to. It doesn't want to shift into third, and then when it finally does shift to third, it doesn't want to shift into overdrive. So far, we have changed the two shift solenoids. I also wanted to add that my the dash cluster, with all the gauges and information station, doesn't work either.
Check transmission fuse.if check engine light flash on have vechicle code scan check for faulty vechicle speed sensor or faulty tps sensor if check engine light dont turn on or dash lights dont work check fuse to the IPC which is the instrument panel control problem could be some blowed fuses need fluid filter change or transmission fluid level too low or transmission shift valves in the valve body sticking you can go to auto parts stores buy additive you can add to transmission fluid use transmission high mileage fluid it restores transmission seal help transmission shift better.

Testimonial: "Changing the filter & fluid was the 1st thing I tried... There was absolutely NO junk in the bottom of the pan in the old fluid & it didn't smell burnt either...."
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

transmission shift solenoid is stuck open this is a common vehicle issue in automatics and not particular to any make or model vehicle 15 dollar part and arm and leg for labor if taken in
heres an idea to try
take out the transmission filter and replace with new one make sure to take not of any metal debry in trans pan this indicates the trans had sheered its gears down and a trans rebuild is needed
the transfilter needs to be changed at a certain milage interval they can get clogged up
there is a kit you buy for your truck at any parts store
its an easy change hour of time unbolt trans pan unbolt trans filter and put new one in
kit comes with new seals less than an hour you can do it yourself
to overdrive you would feel a difference in shift badley if it was that something to keep in mind

there's more than 1 and they are all inside the pan and in the valvebody be careful messing with this stuff it could become very costly very fast. good luck

may i ask why you need to already change the fluid, unless you have burned fluid normally its good for 90,000 mi,otherwise if so, the drain plug is directly behind the bell housing of the engine/tranny and the filter is right there too under the access panel the drain plug is on

have a 1998 K3500 silverado 4x4 with 454 motor and 4L80E transmission. I can not get over 55 or 60 mph. At that speed the transmission down shifts from 4th (OD) to 3rd. The speedometer also drifts from about 50 to 65. If I try to speed up it will down shift to 3rd. I have replaced the VSS on the trasfer case. Is there another speed sensor somewhere? Or could it be the TPS? The truck drives and shift normal up to this point. where should i look next. thanks
