More complicated answer: If there is that much damage then the bodyshell mountings are also quite likely to be distorted which will make any repair attempt futile. Ideally you must get the damaged parts stripped off and then get the mounting points accurately measured. This can only be done using specialised measuring equipment. The alternative is to invest in the parts needed for your repair and to fit them with an immediate alignment check at the nearest suitably equipped garage. If the alignment of the body is off then the car is effectively a write off as repairs will exceed the car value.

i have a 1997 Golf GTI 2.0 liter engine the motor was replace and has 40,000 on it but the body has close to 150,000 on it everytime i shift 1st to 2nd somethings hitting the ground somewhere and secondly the intake maniflold has like a rattle in it or something of that sort and i dont know where its coming from its sounds like a missfire but im not 100% sure yet can someone help me and oo and 4th and 5th gear the clutch makes a biut of grinding noise like not loud and only when your fully in gear and the clutch is all the way out any ideas
This could most likely be one of 2 things, 1. if it is your maintainance light, it is probably one of your sensors, possibly the mass air filter sensor, oil pressure sensor, and 2. If it is a diesel engine and its the glow plug light, you would need to replace your glow plug relay because it telling you that the glow plugs are still on when the engine is running, which you should take care of asap before you have to replace the glow plugs themselves.
